Guidelines for Writing Summer Practice Report
2015
Instructions for Submission

Baku Azerbaijan 2015

Summer Practice Report should be written in Microsoft Word using the template which you will
receive by email and submit to the Quality Assurance Department both in electronic and
hardcopy version. You should write your name, surname, place of site visit, period of the visit
and supervisor name on the front cover page.
Report file should be submitted by your own name and surname.
Deadline date and time
The deadline for submission will be 1 week after the visit; however it is highly recommended to
submit report before the deadline. Late submitted reports will have penalty marks. Please, make
sure to print out the reports in a right way to meet the requirements and keep electronic version.
Deadline: 7th September, 2015
Report Structure
Requirements of a summer practice report
Mechanical details
Capacity 10-15 pages (together with appendix)
Interval: 1.5
Margins: 3 cm on the left and 2,5 cm on the right
Words: max. 1500-2000 (10 to 15 pages)
Font: One type of font (ex: Areal)
Font Size: 12
1. Introduction include a short synopsis and introduction to what the report will cover
2. Site Background some general facts about the new site (e.x: typical production rates,
size, number of employees). You should avoid copying and pasting from general web
sites.
3. Technical Content
4. Conclusion you should finish the report with an overall conclusion.
Within these guidelines there is considerable scope for emphasising particular aspects that might
interest you as long as you address the points above in some way it will meet the summer
practices requirements. You may carry out further literature searches (i.e using the resources in
the library) if you wish and include references.
Remember that the majority of students do not get the access to the site that you have been given
and not many people outside of the industry will realise what goes on at the site. You should
approach your report as if you were telling the next years students what the summer practices
visit showed you.
You have been given a different specialist topic for summer internship, which is indicated in the
table below. These topics were often too general often taking information from the internet and
did not focus sufficiently on the site visit itself. You therefore should try and ask questions to
help you comment on these topics. You also need to make careful observations of what you see.
