PREFACE

“IT IS GOOD TO HAVE KNOWLEDGE… IT IS GOOD TO HAVE GOOD WILL

BUT IT IS ESSENTISL TO HAVE A GOOD TRAINING”

(PD. JAWHARLAL NEHRU)

To excel in any field practical training is an integral part to imply theoretica
l
studies to a practical approach.
It make as the individuals to the actual practical condition, which could have b
een
impossible to be taught in classroom. A trainee learns dealing with the client a
nd
management-working environment along with today market, which is changing at
incredible pace.
In addition, technological changes, which we are witnessing, have shifted the ol
d
hectic and weirs ways of doing businesses. These technological developments
have brought revolutionary change in the market and in the mindset of the people
,
which are positive, encouraging for as section of society, and adverse for other
s.
I am thankful to the management for assigning such a challenging topic of:-

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Rajasthan State Mines & Minerals Ltd. Is one of the India leading Lime stone,
Rock Phosphate, Lignite producer in other non-ferrous mineral. It was
incorporated as Govt. of India enterprises under the ministry of minerals & depa
rtment of mines, on January 10, 1966 after takeover of erstwhile minerals corpor
ation of India limited, to own to manage and develop mining and lead minerals in
the country. The main objective is to substantially meet the domestic demand of
minerals.
I have undergone training in Rajasthan State Mines & Minerals Ltd., a primer sme
lter of RSMM which is engaged in production of high lminerals.
The main objective of this study are:
To analysis the limestone in marketing in RSMM.
To study the organization working pattern at RSMM.
To analysis the sales policy of RSMM.
The research is exploratory in nature and the data used is primary data as well
as secondary data. Primary data were collected through questionnaire, observatio
n and from the instruction and inputs provided by my supervisor.
Secondary data was majorly obtained from the company’s annual statements, work b
ooks, fact sheets, magazines journals and websites.
The report also analyses and interprets the major findings which are:
The marketing policy of the company is to peruse direct sales to keep in
touch with consumer and market.
A survey shows that about 98% of the customer are satisfied with the RSM
M products which clearly signifies that company gives top priority to customer s
atisfaction. Through the report I have also tried to make some suggestion for im
proving the work efficiency and better productivity as under:
The company may set up it’s own captive power plant as early as possible
. Rajasthan suffers from chronic shortage of power and this plant will go a long
way in providing the quantity of power which will smoothen the production proce
ss and make it possible to achieve the target level.
Services are good but due to non-availability of material and less production of
plant due to several break downs services are badly affected, hence it is essen
tial to improve for good services

AMALGAMATION
Year 2003, witnessed completion of amalgamation of Rajasthan State Mineral Devel
opment Corporation Limited (RSMDC), another Rajasthan State Government PSU with
Rajasthan State Mines & Minerals Limited (RSMML) was issued by the Department of
Company Affairs, Government of India (Order No. S.O.207(E) dated 19th February
2003) under Section 396 of the Companies Act, 1956 and the same has come into ef
fect from 20th February, 2003, the date of its publication in the Gazette of Ind
ia (Extraordinary).
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
The company has developed the organic fertilizer called Phosphate Rich Organic M
anure (PROM) by using high grade rock phosphate with farm yard waste and other o
rganic matter. The field trials conducted through the different agricultural uni
versities in the country have shown that the agronomic efficacy of this new P-fe
rtilizer is higher than that of the complex phosphatic fertilizers available in
the market today. ‘PROM’ is suitable to neutral and alkaline soils, which will p
rove to be a boon to the Indian farmers. In the long run, this product will be a
winner as it has significant price advantage vis-à-vis the other chemical ferti
lizers. Commercialization of the PROM technology will help utilization of waste
and also help in conservation of the mineral rock phosphate as PROM shows good r
esidual effect.
The company has put a major thrust on the R&D activities in the recent past and
several new R&D projects have been taken up.

Limestone
Limestone is especially popular in architecture, and many landmarks around the w
orld, especially in North America and Europe, are made primarily of the material
.
The History Says
Limestone was most popular in the early 20th and late 19th centuries. Train stat
ions, banks and other structures from that era are normally limestone.
The Present Scenario
Travertine is a banded, compact variety of limestone formed along streams, parti
cularly where there are waterfalls and around hot or cold springs. Calcium carbo
nate is deposited where evaporation of the water leaves a solution that is super
saturated with chemical constituents of calcite. Tufa a porous or cellular varie
ty of travertine, is found near waterfalls.
________________________________________
LIMESTONE is calcareous sedimentary rock composed of the mineral calcite (CaCO3)
, which upon calcination yields lime (CaO) for commercial use. In its broadest i
nterpretation the term includes any calcareous material such as marble, chalk, t
ravertine, tufa, limeshell, coral and marl each possessing different and distinc
t physical properties. The crystalline equivalents of limestone having the same
chemical composition are calcite and aragonite.
In nature, the limestone bed is found to occur in varying purity, generally a pa
rt of the calcium molecules being replaced by magnesium tending towards magnesiu
m limestone or dolomitic limestone. Limestone with more than10% of mineral dolom
ite is termed dolomite limestone, and that with 5 to 10%, magnesium limestone.
The rock containing more than 95% of calcium carbonate is termed high-calcium li
mestone. Recrystallised limestone takes good polish and is used as decorative an
d building stone. It is then called marble .
A variety of other names is associated with limestone depending upon the modes o
f occurrence, texture, and the remains of foraminifera, molluscs and other shell
-forming creatures, for example, oolitic and pisolitic limestones, reostone, cri
noidal limestone, foraminiferal limestone, calcareous ooze, bryozoa limestone, a
rgillaceous and hydraulic limestons and the like.
Oolitic limestone is the name given to granular limestone of which each grain co
nsists of a series of concentric layers of calcium carbonate resembling the eggs
of the fish. When it resembles the eggs of Roe fish, it is called Roestone. The
name Pisolite-limestone is given when the grains are of the size of peas.
Crinoidal limestone is a rock composed of encrinites with the remains of foramin
ifera-molluscs and their lime forming organism.
Such beds are commonly found in lower Carboniferous formations.

Uses
Limestone is quarried for roadbeds, building and landscape construction, and cem
ent manufacture.
Limestone is especially popular in architecture, and many landmarks around the w
orld, especially in North America and Europe, are made primarily of the material
. Limestone is readily available and relatively easy to cut into blocks or more
elaborate carving. It is also long-lasting and stands up well to exposure.
However, it is a very heavy material, making it impractical for tall buildings;
it is also quite expensive. Limestone was most popular in the early 20th and lat
e 19th centuries. Train stations, banks and other structures from that era are n
ormally limestone. Limestone is used as a facade on some skyscrapers, but only i
n thin sheets rather than solid blocks. In North America, most limestone used in
construction comes from Indiana.
Though the limestone used for construction is good for humid climates, it is vul
nerable to acids, making acid rain a problem when it occurs in places where lime
stone is used extensively. The acids in the water can wear away the details of s
tatues and other art.

Safety and Environment Protection Measure

The Company is not only concerned with the increase in production only but also
equally concerned about the safety in mines and environment protection measurers
. The efforts made by the company in this regard were appreciated during the Saf
ety week & Environment Week organized by the different Departments of Govt. of I
ndia.
The mines of SBU were accredited with the number of awards under various categor
ies like Reclamation & Rehabilitation of land, Nose & Vibration Control, Air Pol
lution Control, Management of sub grade Mineral, Heavy Earth Moving Machinery &
Maintenance, Opencast Working Place & Plans, Dust Suppression, Welfare amenities
, Explosive, Transport Road, Vocational training & supervision, HEMM and Mainten
ance, Welfare Amenities, Afforestation/Plantation etc. All mines of the SBU’s ar
e ZERO accidents zone. Time to time training to the mine workers are imparted to
cope up with latest technologies & also regular medical checkup are provided to
each & every mine employees.
The statutory obligations formulated by the Ministry of Environment & Forest, GO
I & the State Pollution Control Board are complied with by the company. Regular
monitoring six monthly bases is being carried out at each mine to monitor the am
bient air quality. Despite of the adverse geographical location of the mines of
the SBU’s , every year plantation programme are being carried out at mines as we
ll as around office/residential complex.

Social and Welfare Activities

For the purpose of socio economic development of the areas falling under the wor
king zone of SBU the company is taking all possible efforts to improve the socia
l life of the surrounding villagers of the mine areas by generating direct & ind
irect employment. Further, additional add is being provided to schools, panchaya
t under social development activity. The main activities carried out by the comp
any are as under:-
• Distributed books worth Rs.10,000/- in every Government Schools falling
under the working area of the SBU. A sum of Rs.5.00 lakhs has been spent under t
his head.
• Provided two computers in secondary school falling near the working area
of the Sanu mines.
• Fund for construction of building for Cardiothoracic Centre at governmen
t (MDM) Hospital, Jodhpur worth Rs.0.35 Crores has been released.

SUGGESTIONS
After having along this it’s various dimensions some aspects are seen worth impr
ovement and some for adherence. For this purpose some suggestion have been broug
ht under.
• The company may setup it’s own captive power plant as early as possible.
Rajasthan suffers from chronic shortage of power and this plant will go a long
way in providing the quantity of power. Which will smoothen the production proce
ss and make it possible to achieve the target level.
• RSMM should maintain adequate stock of raw material so that there may be
not shortage of raw material.

• The quality of 99.99% of SHG should be improved.

• To meet growing demand of lime stone. RSMM should expand the capacities
of its factories at JHAMERKOTRA.

• RSMM should adopt the policies for long term sales tie up with major reg
ular customers.
• Availability of material is very low as compared to requirement. Hence,
it should be improve so that the customer can get the material on time .
• For smoothing marketing of lime stone, RSMM allow credit facility minim
um up to 90 days by allowing discount of the bills under letter of credit by thi
rd party. Bill discounting Scheme should also be applicable to small customer.
• For augmentation and diversification of mineral resources the company ha
s to avail expertise with multinational corporation through joint venture and
collaborations.
• RSMM should be internationally competitive because Govt. of INDIA has in
troduce a number of changes in industrial and mineral policies having profound i
mplication.
• Services are good but due to Non-availability of material and less produ
ction of plant due to several brake downs services are badly affected, hence it
is essential to improve for good services.
• Steady supply of all grade of minerals by RSMM at reasonable prices will
pay a crucial role in maintain it’s position as market leader.
In the liberalized environment efforts are needed to maintain and improved the m
arket share of lime stone in the face of stiff competition from imports
WIND POWER

With a view of diversification activities and to protect environment degradation

, RSMML has entered into wind power generation business in 2001. RSMML has commi
ssioned 14x350Kw wind energy turbine on 70 mtr. high lattice towers at Badabagh
