PREFACE
English is taught in all primary and secondary schools as a second language. Learners are taught the English Language to enable them to
use the language to further their studies and for work purposes. The Basic Communicative English Curriculum is specially designed to cater to
the needs of students undertaking the Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia course.
AIM
The Basic Communicative English Curriculum for SKM students aims to equip students with basic communication skills in order to meet
their needs for English Language in their everyday life, for knowledge acquisition, and for future workplace needs.
OBJECTIVES
The Basic Communicative English Curriculum for SKM students enables them to:
i) take part in social interactions and to obtain goods and services
ii) listen, read and respond to a variety of texts ( with guidance ), then express ideas in spoken and written forms.
iii) show awareness and appreciation of moral values and love towards the nation.
