FOREWORD
This Indian Indian Standard was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after the draft finalized
by the Forestry and Plantation Crops Machinery Sectional Committee had been approved by the
Food and Agriculture Division Council.
Hole punches are used for punching holes in bow saw blades which have lost tension in the frames
while in use. The positioning of new holes shall be done in such a way on the blade that this gives
proper tension while fitting the blade in the frame,
The bow saw blade is fixed between the two plates which are tightened with fly nuts. Then the punch
is hit with a hammer to make the desired hole in the bow saw blade. Considering the increased use
of hole punches in the country, a need was felt to prepare this standard for helping in quality
production of this tool.
In the preparation of this standard assistance has been derived from the Forest
Forest Research Institute ( ICFRE ), Dehradun.
Operations Division,
For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the
final value, observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test or ana!ysis, shall be rounded ofl in
accordance with IS 2 : 1960 Rules for rounding off numerical values ( revised ). The number of
significant places retained in the rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in
this ,standard.
