3. SERVICE CALL CONDITION


3.1 CODE #E11 EXPOSURE LAMP ERROR
Definition
The feedback signal becomes higher than 4.2 volts (r.m.s.) for 1.0
second when the exposure lamp is on.
The feedback signal becomes higher than 1.0 volt (r.m.s.) for 1.0
second when the exposure lamp is off.
Possible Causes
Exposure lamp open Thermoswitch open Power supply unit defective.
Main board defective DC harness defective

3.2 CODE #E12 EXPOSURE LAMP ERROR


Definition
The feedback signal falls below 0.5 volts (r.m.s.) for 1.0 second when
the exposure lamp is on.
The exposure stays on for longer than 10 seconds.
Possible Causes
Power supply unit defective Main board defective

3.3 CODE #E13 ZERO CROSS SIGNAL ERROR


Definition
The CPU does not receive the zero cross signal within 0.56 second.
Possible Causes
Main board defective Power supply unit defective
Zero cross line open CN9 on the power supply unit, or CN303 on the
main board is not correctly connected.

3.4 CODE #E21 1ST SCANNER HOME POSITION ERROR


Definition
The 1st scanner home position sensors output remains LOW (deactuated) for 8 seconds after the main switch is turned on.
Possible Causes
1st scanner home position sensor failure Scanner motor defective
Main board defective Scanner motor control board defective.
Power supply unit defective. 1st scanner drive mechanism defective.
CN109 or CN110 on the main board/or CN301 or CN302 on the
scanner motor control board is not correctly connected.

3.5 CODE #E22 1ST SCANNER HOME POSITION ERROR


Definition
The 1st scanner home position sensors output remains HIGH (actuated)
for 1.0 second after the scanner starts.
Possible Causes
Scanner home position sensor failure Scanner motor defective
Main board defective Scanner motor control board defective
Power supply unit defective Defective dc harness
1st scanner drive mechanism defective
CN109, CN110 or CN301 on the main board/or CN301 or CN302 on
the scanner motor control board is not correctly connected.

3.6 CODE #E28 LENS HOME POSITION ERROR


Definition
The lens home position sensors output remains HIGH (actuated) for 3.5
seconds after the lens leaves the home position.

Possible Causes
Lens home position sensor failure Lens drive motor defective
Main board defective Defective dc harness
Lens drive mechanism defective
CN106 or CN111 on the main board is not correctly connected.

3.7 CODE #E29 LENS HOME POSITION ERROR


Definition
The lens home position sensors output remains LOW (de-actuated) for
3.5 seconds after the lens moves to the home position.
Possible Causes
Lens home position sensor failure Lens motor defective
Main board defective Lens drive mechanism defective
CN111 on the main board is not correctly connected.

3.8 CODE #E2A 2ND SCANNER HOME POSITION ERROR


Definition
The 2nd scanner home position sensors output remains HIGH (actuated)
for 2.5 seconds after the 2nd scanner leaves the home position.
Possible Causes
2nd scanner home position sensor failure
2nd scanner motor defective Main board defective
2nd scanner drive mechanism defective Defective dc harness
CN105 or CN111 on the main board is not correctly connected.

3.9 CODE #E2B 2ND SCANNER HOME POSITION ERROR


Definition
The 2nd scanner home position sensors output remains LOW (deactuated) for 2.5 seconds after the 2nd scanner moves to the home
position.
Possible Causes
2nd scanner home position sensor failure
2nd scanner motor defective Main board defective
2nd scanner drive mechanism defective
CN111 on the main board is not correctly connected.

3.10 CODE #E31 DRUM THERMISTOR FAILURE


Definition
The output voltage of the drum thermistor-1 is less than 0.14 volts (r. m. s),
or stays 5 volts (r. m. s).
Possible Causes
Erase lamp unit is not set properly Main board detective.
Drum thermistor-1 on the erase lamp unit is open or short.

3.11 CODE #E52 FUSING WARM-UP ERROR


Definition
The temperature detected by the thermistor does not reach 175C within
100 seconds after the main switch is turned on.
Possible Causes
Thermistor position error Fusing lamp open Thermofuse open
Power supply unit defective Main board defective
Defective ac harness
CN6 on the power supply unit is not correctly connected.

3.12 CODE #E53 FUSING OVERHEAT


Definition
The thermistor detects a temperature higher than 240C.
Possible Causes
Thermistor short Power supply unit defective
Main board defective Fusing harness shorted

3.13 CODE #55 FUSING THERMISTOR OPEN


Definition
The temperature detected by the thermistor does not detect 2C within 30
seconds after the main switch is turned on.
Possible Causes
Thermistor open Main board defective Power supply unit defective
Fusing lamp open Thermofuse open Defective ac harness
CN6 on the power supply unit is not correctly connected.

3.14 #E70 (IN THE MAGNIFICATION INDICATOR)


NOTE: When "E70" starts blinking in the magnification indicator, up to an
additional 250 copies can be made. After 250 copies are finished, "E70" is
displayed on the copy counter and copying is inhibited.
Definition
Toner overflow condition occurs
Possible Causes
Toner overflow Main board defective

3.15 #E71 (IN THE MAGNIFICATION INDICATOR)


NOTE: When "E71" starts blinking in the magnification indicator, up to an
additional 250 copies can be made. After 250 copies are finished, "E71" is
displayed on the copy counter and copying is inhibited.
Definition
Oil end condition occurs.
Possible Causes
Oil end Main board failure

3.16 ABNORMAL CONDITION IN TONER DENSITY


DETECTION
Phenomenon
The Call Service indicator blinks. (No SC Code is indicated.)
Definition
If the Vsg goes below 2.5 volts or Vsp goes above 2.5 volts 5 times in a
row.
Possible Causes
Pre-transfer lamp is not set properly
Incorrect Vsg voltage Dirty ID sensor
Low toner density ID sensor defective
Main board defective
