Fruitful fall

After the devastation of Yolanda and other many strong typhoons, National Disaster
and Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) seems learned their lesson as
their efficient precautionary measures on Typhoon Lando comes fruitful after the fall
on the casualties, proving a job well done for them.
After its landfall this Tuesday morning, October 20, 2015 at Ilocos Norte, Lando left 4
dead, 5 wounded, and 1 missing in its wake. With comparable strength with
Yolanda, we can pretty much sum up that NDRRMC is really hands on their
preparations.
Even President Benigno Aquino III boasted 0 casualty whenever the Typhoon struck
our landmass. Even though not a total 0 casualty, they still managed to reduce
casualties, thus showing the effectiveness of their countermeasures before the
typhoon hit.
Before the typhoon, NDRRMC launched several water rescue groups in the areas
prone to floods, hence ensuring evacuation of almost 58,000 families affected by
Lando.
NDRRMC also initiated an astonishing partnership with the Local Government Units
(LGUs) to preemptively implement class suspensions so they could evacuate earlier
so they would not need the official announcement of the NDRRMC for them to flee.
This effort of NDRRMC also led to lower casualties.
They also push efforts with collaborating with Department of Social Welfare and
Development (DSWD), Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH),
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and Department of Science
and Technology (DOST) to provide more impressive service for the public.
Even though there are 28 million worth of food and non-food items, closed bridges
and roads stopped it from getting into the affected areas. But with the
determination of NDRRMC, they managed to barrow government choppers to
deliver the goods to the isolated areas.
With continuous decrease in the casualties in the consecutive typhoons, NDRRMC is
doing pretty well in reducing the risk as their preventative efforts being effective
more than ever. With 20% of the funds in the local government placed for regional
risk reduction, it really is worth it bearing in mind the fruitful fall it brought.

After all this time

After all of Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services

Administration (PAGASA) warnings and disseminated information, casualties are still
recorded because of the peoples lack of discipline and the willing ness to follow and
to be saved. If this lack of discipline continues, then expect the number of casualties
to blow-up when the next calamity comes.
Let us take the case of Yolanda, where most of its death recorded was accounted to
those who are staying at home despite governments forced evacuation, bypassing
media available just to disperse the news, showing our true nature as Filipino.
Most recently, Typhoon Lando only left 4 dead, which all did not evacuate. In one
case, a 62 year-old was crushed to death by the collapsing wall of their house.
Almost all fatalities recorded are attributable to not cooperating, hence ourselves
are the main cause of death during typhoons.
We have nothing to blame but ourselves. They are subordinating, and thats is a
problem for us to solve. Government is doing their duty properly while we, citizens,
should follow accordingly.
It seems that hard-headedness is a common characteristic to us, but if your family
is at risk, you should are ought to think twice and more decisively.
Disciple line should begin within us. Being disciplined could possibly save lives in
scenarios like these. For our own safety, we should take time to consider our
governments effort to always remind us and tell us to keep safe.
Hard-headedness had already claimed many lives.it is up to us the safety of
ourselves and family. Hard-headedness could have originated from us, but it should
not continue onward.
