Grading:
100% Assessments
Your grade will be completely based on whether you
can perform the Common Core State Standards. This
means you will be given credit solely for the
assessments. No credit is given for homework.
Homework, or independent practice, is given so that
you, the student, will have adequate practice of the
standards on which you will be assessed. Homework
will be collected, however, to use as evidence for you,
your parents, and I to see what you truly know and
understand. Heres how it works:

You come to class and learn about Standard SSE.A.1.

You practice in class on Standard SSE.A.1 with the help of
Ms. Hand and your fellow classmates.
You go home and practice Standard SSE.A.1 on your own.
At the end of the week, you will be given a practice
assessment on Standard SSE.A.1 along with a couple more
standards.
At the end of a chapter, you will be given an assessment on
all standards in that chapter.
If a standard was not met on an assessment, you can
reassess! In order to retake an assessment, all of the

This is the math departments first time implementing Standards-Based Grading. Every
chapter we will be reevaluating its effectiveness and making adjustments where
necessary. We ask for your patience and understanding through this process. Our goal is
that your grade will show whether you can perform the Common Core State Standards
and we will do our best to meet that goal. Feel free to contact us with any questions or
concerns.

Grade Progress Reports will be emailed to you and your parents every Friday.
