I tell them they are lost in the city and they need to get to the train station, I ask them
questions using different prepositions of place and names of buildings they have already
studied in the unit)

Is it in Les Rambles?
Can I get there on foot?
I have a bit of a headache, is there a pharmacy in front of the train station?
Is the pharmacy far from the station?

1. Firstly, choose Factsheet to get some ideas on how to give orders and instructions.
2. Secondly, go to game and play destination impossible, a game where you help Raj,
Sue and Lee to get to their destination on the map.
c. Repeat if necessary.

Practice: Write and give your own instructions. There are many ways to give directions.
One common way to give directions is to give the name of the street and then some
building nearby.
Practice the following conversation with a partner using the substitutions in the box (pair
work):
A: Do you know where I can get a cup of coffee?
B: Sure. You could try the Starry Caf.
A: Wheres that? / How can I get there?
B: Its on 2nd Avenue in front of the pharmacy.
A: Thanks.
B: No problem
Choose 2 stores or buildings from the map and write in a word document instructions to
describe the location for each of them. Find a photo or a picture of the building you have
chosen in the internet and paste it on the document.
