WELCOME

Spirit-Filled. Are you filled with the Holy Spirit today? Why or why not?

WORD

1 Timothy 4:7-8
On the other hand, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness; for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but
godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.
The discipline of prayer, fasting, Bible-reading,
worship, etc. is good for us. Many Christians
however are weak and shallow because they have
never been taught that to become an effective
Christian you need to have spiritual discipline.

they cannot understand that God is the Father, is

the Holy Spirit and is Jesus. This is the Tri-Unity of
God.

Learning Spiritual Discipline

Every Christian should have the following spiritual

discipline: prayer and fasting, Spirit-filled life, quiet
time, worship, generosity, simplicity, evangelism.
Start with prayer and fasting which allows you to
pause from your busy schedule to make intentional
time for prayer and fasting to commune with God
and listen to what He is saying to you.
When you spend time with God you allow Him to
fill you with His presence and His glory. When you
are continuously filled, you will begin to overflow.
Obviously you cannot overflow if you are empty.
You must be blessed to bless others.

Be Filled with the Holy Spirit

The second most important truth after the gospel

that every Christian must know and observe in
their life is to be filled with the Holy Spirit moment
by moment. The normal Christian is filled with the
Holy Spirit. The Christian life is not hard, it is
impossible; it is not difficult, it is supernatural.
For example, as a Christian we are commanded to
love our enemies. If you try to do it by your own
will power you will only get frustrated. But when
the Holy Spirit is upon you, you will receive power
(Acts 1:8).
Many Christians live in spiritual poverty because
they do not know the power of the Holy Spirit that
is in them when they received Jesus in their life as
their Lord and Savior. They do not know because

Do not get frustrated to fully understand the TriUnity but believe what you know from the Bible
about it (Read: Luke 3:22, Romans 8:9). If you
deny the Trinity, you lose your soul. If you try to
explain the Trinity, you lose your mind
(Augustine).

The moment you received Jesus, you are sealed

with the Holy Spirit to distinguish believers from
non-believers.

Manifestations of Spirit-filled Life

To speak in languages that you do not know is just

one manifestation of a Spirit-filled life (Acts 2:4, 8).
Not everyone who is filled with the Holy Spirit
speaks in tongues (1 Corinthians 12:30). John was
filled with the Holy Spirit even while he was yet in
his mothers womb and as an adult he was filled
with the Holy Spirit but performed no sign but
pointed people to Jesus (Luke 1:15, John 10:41).

The first century Christians were continuously

filled with the fullness of the Holy Spirit resulting to
joy (Acts 13:52) and boldness to share the gospel
(Acts 4:31). Are you joyful? Do your face, actions
and words show that you are?

WORD (contd)
How can you be filled with the Holy Spirit
Do not get drunk with wine and be out of control
and so waste your life, but be filled with the Holy
Spirit (Ephesians 5:18) and be controlled by the
Holy Spirit.
To be filled with the Spirit is to be Christ-like
(Galatians 5:22-23). When you are intimate with
the Lord, you become Christ-like.

To be filled with the Holy Spirit is also to be filled

with the word of God (Colossians 3:16). The more
you read the Bible, the more you know God, the
more you become filled with the Holy Spirit; they
go together. The Holy Spirit will never contradict
the word of God (John 14:6).

To be filled with the Holy Spirit do not quench and

do not grieve the Holy Spirit (1 Thessalonians
5:19Ephesians 4:30). You grieve the Holy Spirit
when you deliberately reject Gods command.

To be filled with the Holy Spirit, you need to have a

hunger for God (John 7:37).
Any kind of discipline, physical or spiritual, is
boring if you do not have the right purpose.
Spiritual discipline is not spiritual by itself, but it
allows you to be in a place where God can do
something in your life; the product of spiritual
discipline is intimacy with God.
