DB Sootblower (D92)

Low maintenance, rotating element sootblower

for restricted exterior applications
The challenge

Our solution

One of the considerations when installing on-load

cleaning technology to an application is the exterior
space availability for the devices. Where space is
minimal, the plant operator must consider the sizing
of the on-load cleaning technology to ensure it is
suitable for the plants design.

The Clyde Bergemann DB rotating element sootblower

is a compact, low maintenance design suitable for
confined spaces on plants. It is used where the flue
gas temperature is low enough to permit the fitting
of elements permanently in the gas stream and is
supported by internal bearings. Typical applications
include convection banks, economisers, tubular air
heaters, fired heaters and waste heat recovery boilers.

Todays competitive market also calls for plant

operators to ensure they keep cost minimal with the
day-to-day operations of on-site technologies but at
the same time ensuring maximum efficiency.
Clyde Bergemanns range of on-load cleaning
technologies are designed to customer specifications
to ensure they comply with all requirements. Where
space restrictions are evident, the Clyde Bergemann
DB rotating element sootblower is the model of
choice.
Over 6,800 DBs have been installed worldwide in
markets which include power, petrochemical/refining,
pulp and paper, marine, waste-to-energy and biomass
plants.

The DB can be mounted directly onto the wallbox

at the boiler wall and its compact design means no
outboard support is required. Its simple design also
minimises maintenance costs with little work required
to maintain the devices.

When the blower is started from the idle position, the

electric motor rotates the element through the gearbox
and drive chain. A mechanical lever arm on a rotating
cam disc opens and closes the steam/air valve during
one rotation.
