Safeguard Your Portable Electronic Devices. In
February, LAPD detectives issued an alert regarding an
increase in burglary and theft of portable electronic
devices such as GPS systems, i-Pods and laptop computers
from motor vehicles in the Northeast area of the city.
LAPD offers these suggestions for safeguarding your
portable devices:
Keep all valuables out of plain view. Never leave a
GPS in its cradle or on the dash.
Install an anti-theft device in your vehicle.
Park in a well-illuminated area when possible.
Keep a list of serial numbers for all devices
