ABSTRACT

In this study, we investigated the obsession of the pets among UniKL MIIT students.
The purpose of our group conduct this research are to analyze the obsession of the
pets among UniKL MIIT student. This because some student are really obsess with
pets and ignoring their studies. Besides, we also want to find out the causes and
effect of having pets whether its positive or negative to students life. Our group
want to conduct research to identify the effects of having pets on the academic
performance for MIIT students. Of particular interest were the direct and indirect
effects of having pets on the academic performance of MIIT students. Besides, we
want to investigate how much MIIT students are willing to spend on their pets. To
study this issue, we estimated a multi-group, multi-level structural model. We found
that among student UNIKL MIIT mostly have interest in pets but still able to manage
time between studying and leisure with pets. Furthermore, we also want to find out
the reasons MIIT students love keeping pets. The study is based on primary data.
The required information was collected through random sample survey of the
student at UniKL MIIT.

1. CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
1.1.

Introduction

This section will provide information of the background of this research. It will
focus on the issue and problem of the research topic. Besides, it will explain
in details of background of the research topic as well as objective of this
research. The scope of the research topic will be addressed in this chapter
and find out the significant of the research topic in order to complete the
research question stated in this chapter.

Background of the Study

A pet is an animal that people keep for a purpose like for a persons company
or protection, because of interest on certain species and many more. The
most popular pets are known for their attractive appearance and loyalty or
playful personality.
The pets can really be a persons company for a long time because
sometimes pets more loyal that people. To find out the interest students on
the pets, a research was conducted on students in UniKL MIIT. Besides, the
research was conducted to discover the pet obsession phenomenon among
students nowadays very rampant. Lot of studies have been conducted in the
area of students achievement and these studies identify and analyze how the
student in UniKL MIIT spent their time with the pet and study whether they
able to managed time properly.
The depression among student are really important issue nowadays because
of many factor like to much homework, bully among student and many more.
Because of this issue, student a likely spent more time with pets rather than
with people so we want to find how many students in UniKL MIIT obsessed
with pets.

Statement of the Problem

The pet obsession among student in UNIKL MIIT affects their study or life.
There are causes and effect.

Purpose of the Study

Two thirds of Americans live with an animal, and according to a 2011 Harris
poll, 90 percent of pet owners think of their dogs and cats as members of the
family. These relationships have benefits. For example, in a survey by the
American Animal Hospital Association, 40 percent of married female dog
owners reported they received more emotional support from their pet than
from their husband or their kids. The pet products industry calls this the

humanization of pets. One of my colleagues recently spent $12,000 on

cancer treatments for her best friend Asha, a Labrador retriever.
Based on the statement above, we want to analyze the obsession of the pets
among UniKL MIIT student. This because some student are really obsess with
pets and ignoring their studies. Besides, we also want to find out the causes
and effect of having pets whether its positive or negative to students life.

To identify the effects of having pets on the academic performance of MIIT
students.
To investigate how much MIIT students are willing to spend on their pets.
To find out the reasons MIIT students love keeping pets.
