Info & News

Thanksgiving Baskets
If you or someone you know would be blessed by a holiday
food basket, please contact the church office @ 503.588.0403.
Grab a complete list of items in the foyer to donate to our
food closet to bless these families this holiday season.
Giving Tree Volunteers
Every year we get the pleasure of blessing children in need
from the schools in our area with Christmas gifts. We will
need volunteers to help hand out giving tree gift tags
before, between and after services in the coming weeks. If
you can help with this, fill out a Sign Me Up card to let us
know and we will contact you to coordinate.

Childrens Christmas Music CDs

Rather than our traditional Childrens Christmas

production this year, our Rocksalt age children will be
joining our adult choir on December 13 for a combined
Christmas program. There are CDs available for each
family in the Rocksalt children's area. Make sure your
child brings one home to practice with. This will be a wonderful time of
celebration all together as a church family!

November 15 at 6 PM - If you or someone you know would

like to be baptized, fill out the brown Sign Me Up card in the
seat pocket in front of you and drop it in an offering box.

Giving Update
The ministry of SHC is funded entirely by the
generous giving of Gods people. You will
notice that we do not pass the offering plate;
however, there are offering boxes in the back
of the auditorium. We believe from the Word
of God that the Spirit of God will lead people
towards giving back to God of their first fruits.
...God loves a cheerful giver, (2 Cor. 9:7).

Please prayerfully consider what the Lord

would have you do.

Our Purpose
Love God.
Love Others.
Reach The World.
We proclaim Him, admonishing every
man and teaching everyman with all
wisdom, so that we may present every
man complete in Christ. For this
purpose also I labor, striving according
to His power, which mightily works
within me. Colossians 1:28-29

Proficiency Test

Steve Weidner didnt know what he was getting himself

into when he walked across the playground on his way
back from lunch. On June 2, the 46-year old custodian
at Alan Shepard Elementary School in Bourbonnais,
Illinois, was swarmed by 104 second graders hoping to
get their yearbooks signed.
It was pretty overwhelming for me with them all
screaming for my attention and waving their yearbooks
in the air, Weidner told TODAY.com. But after we
organized a line and I sat down, it ended up being really
fun.

A photo of the second graders standing in line was

posted to the Bourbonnais School District Facebook
page and on June 5, it was uploaded to Reddit, where
its already garnered over 3 million views.

Alan Shepard custodian Steve Mr. Steve Weidner has reached Rock
Star status as he autographs yearbooks for his fans!

And the students who didnt have a chance to get their

yearbooks signed outside werent left hanging Mr.
Steve, as Weidner is known at the school went into
classrooms to give out his autograph, and also had
students bring their yearbooks to lunch.
During his 15 years at Shepard, hes signed students
yearbooks, but has never had the turnout he had this
year. He is a role model for the students and someone
they know they can go to whenever they need him
whether a ball flies over a fence or they get sick,
principal Shirley Padera told TODAY.com. No problem
is too big for Mr. Steve.

Weidner has signed about 300 yearbooks this year and

said that he will continue the tradition for years to come.
The students are what make every day a joy to go to
work, Weidner said. I do it for the kids.
