Serving Drimnagh since /936 - Celebrating Bff" Blnhday In 10/6)
4. The lack of any form of direct consultation to-date, especially in relation to the mediumterm usage of the site and we ask that, as the Residents Association for the area, with
almost 800 household members on adjacent roads, we be kept informed on a regular
basis so that we can all work together, constructively, to achieve a very useful and
worthwhile end result.
Drimnagh Residents Association welcomes
a. the development of the New Children's Hospital as indeed we welcome
b. the eventual development of the Davitt Road site,
c. the community gain which we feel sure will arise from this both
a. in a general way and
b. specifically in relation in employment both during construction and thereafter,
d. but we are seriously concerned that the reduction in the quality of life for all the local
residents of the area will be adversely effected unless serious steps are taken to put a
carefully thoughtfully-thought-out management plan in place to minimise the issues we
have highlighted and that from such a huge development there should be significant
Community Gain, beginning with the proposal in relation to the St. John Bosco Youth
Centre.
Yours sincerely
(on behalf of the Management Committee and general membership)

Drimnagh Residents Association, in existence since 1936, has a number of concerns relating to
1. the Impact on the Community arising from the proposed extended use of this Site on
Davitt Road. We were initially very happy to see some movement on the site as it had, as
essentially a derelict site, been the occasion of much anti-social behaviour- some of a
quite serious nature. We welcomed the development of the Ambulance Centre on the
Kilworth Rd end of the site and we were reasonably happy with a presentation by HSE of
its overall plans for the site, including, from a Community gain point of view, an
agreement in principle, to give a small part of the site to the St. John Bosco Youth Centre
to help it to expand its services in the interest of the Youth of the area and beyond.
2. The Traffic, especially increased Heavy Goods Vehicles, which will undoubtedly cause
serious disruption on a road already heavily trafficked at certain times of the day, bearing
in mind the close proximity of the above mentioned St John Youth Centre and the LUAS
tram stop. It is a serious part of our observation that all of the issues arising from this point
i.e. volume of traffic, noise, and indeed the added pollution requires a very effective traffic
management consideration. We also draw attention to the potential additional difficulties
that will undoubtedly arise for people from Drimnagh trying to exit towards N4 I M4 I MSO
and Phoenix Park (area) and we ask that this be given serious weighting , bearing in mind
that the Grand Canal is already a very heavily congested route, most of the day, especially on week-days.
3. The Noise. dust and general disruption that will be caused, over an extended period of
time, while this site becomes a super-active builders yard - important no doubt to the
successful completion of the Children's Hospital - impinging on the everyday life of people
living but a few meters from the centre of activity on the site.
