About North Korea(Official name: Democratic People's Republic of Korea)

First, to know about North Korea we need to know why the Korean peninsula has
been separated in the first place. After Japans lost in World War , the U.S.A and the Soviet
Union had occupied the country separately, standard of the 38 th parallel. Then, the Moscow
Conference of Foreign Ministers was held to discuss the problem of Koreas independence
and other Far East issues in 1945. The result of the conference was to put Korea under a
trusteeship for 5 years until they attained independence. After the decision was made, there
were disagreements throughout Korea. Some agreed the conclusion they made and others
did not. While Korea was splitting apart into two groups, the U.S.-Soviet Joint
Commission was held to establish a provisional government in Korea, but even though they
held it two times they both had failed to come to an agreement. So, the problem was tossed
to the United Nations General Assembly. The assembly decided to send the UN Temporary
Commission on Korea for the establishment of a new government, but the Soviet Union and
the places above the 38 th parallel refused to let them in. For that reason at 1948, only South
Korea did an election and established a new government, and North Korea established a
government too, the Prime minister, Kim Il-seong. After both governments were established,
the Korean War was erupted in August 25 th 1950, and until now Korea had been split apart
for almost 70 years.
Now, we know how Korea was split apart, but lots of ordinary people like us dont
know much about North Korea. Lets start with North Koreas system. North Korea has a
socialist system and a groupism mind in the base of their life in society. Groupism mind is
thinking that the group goal, in North Korea, the Korean Workers Partys goal is more
important than each peoples goals. The bad part of it is that universal values of human
rights can get limited. North Korea is in a severe economic crisis which causes a lot of
people to starve to death and threat the human right to live. Also, they say theyre a fair
country, but in real life, theres lots of discrimination. If youre a kid who has a family member
that is an official that works in the Korean Workers Party, you can have an advantage of
going to a better school than a kid who has one a defector in his family.
Like this, North Korea are different from us in many ways, but the thing we should
remember is that the unification of South Korea and North Korea is the number one task we
have to do than anything.
