L I F E through living in deep dependence on Me.

People usually associate victory with success: not

falling or stumbling, not making mistakes. But those
who are successful in their own strength tend to go
their own way, forgetting about Me. It is through
problems and failure, weakness and neediness that
you learn to rely on Me.
True dependence is not simply asking Me to bless
what you have decided to do. It is coming to Me with
an open mind and heart, inviting Me to plant My
desires within you. I may infuse within you a dream
that seems far beyond your reach. You know that in
yourself you cannot achieve such a goal. Thus begins
your journey of profound reliance on Me. It is a faithwalk, taken one step at a time, leaning on Me as much
as you need. This is not a path of continual success
but of multiple failures. However, each failure is followed by a growth spurt, nourished by increased
reliance on Me. Enjoy the blessedness of a victorious
life, through deepening your dependence on Me.

TRUST ME

E N O U G H to spend ample time with

Me, pushing back the demands of the day. Refuse to
feel guilty about something that is so pleasing to Me,
the King of the universe. Because I am omnipotent, I
am able to bend time and events in your favor. You
will find that you can accomplish more in less time,
after you have given yourself to Me in rich communion. Also, as you align yourself with My perspective,
you can sort out what is important and what is not.
Dont fall into the trap of being constantly on the
go. Many, many things people do in My Name have
no value in My kingdom. To avoid doing meaningless
works, stay in continual communication with Me. I
will instruct you and teach you in the way you should
go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.

T O M E with all your weaknesses: physical,

emotional, and spiritual. Rest in the comfort of My
Presence, remembering that nothing is impossible with
Me.
Pry your mind away from your problems so you
can focus your attention on Me. Recall that I am able
to do immeasurably more than all you ask or imagine.
Instead of trying to direct Me to do this and that, seek
to attune yourself to what I am already doing.
When anxiety attempts to wedge its way into your
thoughts, remind yourself that I am your Shepherd.
The bottom line is that I am taking care of you; therefore, you neednt be afraid of anything. Rather than
trying to maintain control over your life, abandon
yourself to My will. Though this may feel frighteningeven dangerous, the safest place to be is in My
will.

more you rest in My Presence, the more freely My

blessings flow into you. In the Light of My Love, you
are gradually transformed from glory to glory. It is
through spending time with Me that you realize how
wide and long and high and deep is My Love for you.
Sometimes the relationship I offer you seems too
good to be true. I pour My very Life into you, and all
you have to do is receive Me. In a world characterized
by working and taking, the admonition to rest and
receive seems too easy. There is an intricate connection between receiving and believing: As you trust Me
more and more, you are able to receive Me and My
blessings abundantly. Be still, and know that I am God.

A R E M I N E F O R A L L T I M E ; nothing
can separate you from My Love. Since I have invested
My very Life in you, be well assured that I will also take
care of you. When your mind goes into neutral and
your thoughts flow freely, you tend to feel anxious and
alone. Your focus becomes problem solving. To get
your mind back into gear, just turn toward Me, bringing yourself and your problems into My Presence.
Many problems vanish instantly in the Light of
My Love, because you realize you are never alone.
Other problems may remain, but they become secondary to knowing Me and rejoicing in the relationship I so freely offer you. Each moment you can
choose to practice My Presence or to practice the
presence of problems.

A S YO U S I T Q U I E T LY in My Presence, remember
that I am a God of abundance. I will never run out of
resources; My capacity to bless you is unlimited. You
live in a world of supply and demand, where necessary
things are often scarce. Even if you personally have
enough, you see poverty in the world around you. It is
impossible for you to comprehend the lavishness of
My provisions: the fullness of My glorious riches.
Through spending time in My Presence, you gain
glimpses of My overflowing vastness. These glimpses
are tiny foretastes of what you will experience eternally in heaven. Even now you have access to as much
of Me as you have faith to receive. Rejoice in My
abundanceliving by faith, not by sight.

R E S T I N M E , M Y C H I L D . Give your mind a

break from planning and trying to anticipate what will
happen. Pray continually, asking My Spirit to take
charge of the details of this day. Remember that you
are on a journey with Me. When you try to peer into
the future and plan for every possibility, you ignore
your constant Companion who sustains you moment
by moment. As you gaze anxiously into the distance,
you dont even feel the strong grip of My hand holding yours. How foolish you are, My child!
Remembrance of Me is a daily discipline. Never
lose sight of My Presence with you. This will keep you
resting in Me all day, every day.

L E T M E H E L P Y O U get through this day. There

are many possible paths to travel between your getting up in the morning and your lying down at night.
Stay alert to the many choice-points along the way,
being continually aware of My Presence. You will get
through this day one way or the other. One way is to
moan and groan, stumbling along with shuffling feet.
This will get you to the end of the day eventually, but
there is a better way. You can choose to walk with Me
along the path of Peace, leaning on Me as much as
you need. There will still be difficulties along the way,
but you can face them confidently in My strength.
Thank Me for each problem you encounter, and
watch to see how I transform trials into blessings.

have such great power to bless or to wound. When
you speak carelessly or negatively, you damage others
as well as yourself. This ability to verbalize is an awesome privilege, granted only to those I created in My
image. You need help in wielding this mighty power
responsibly.
Though the world applauds quick-witted retorts,
My instructions about communication are quite different: Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to
become angry. Ask My Spirit to help you whenever
you speak. I have trained you to prayHelp me,
Holy Spiritbefore answering the phone, and you
have seen the benefits of this discipline. Simply apply
the same discipline to communicating with people
around you. If they are silent, pray before speaking to
them. If they are talking, pray before responding.
These are split-second prayers, but they put you in
touch with My Presence. In this way, your speaking
comes under the control of My Spirit. As positive
speech patterns replace your negative ones, the increase in your Joy will amaze you.

perspective. Let the Light of My Presence so fully fill
your mind that you view the world through Me.
When little things dont go as you had hoped, look to
Me lightheartedly and say, Oh, well. This simple discipline can protect you from being burdened with an
accumulation of petty cares and frustrations. If you
practice this diligently, you will make a life-changing
discovery: You realize that most of the things that
worry you are not important. If you shrug them off
immediately and return your focus to Me, you will
walk through your days with lighter steps and a joyful
heart. When serious problems come your way, you
will have more reserves for dealing with them. You
will not have squandered your energy on petty problems. You may even reach the point where you can
agree with the apostle Paul that all your troubles are
light and momentary, compared with the eternal glory
being achieved by them.

your eyes on Me. I will open up the way before you,
as you take steps of trust along your path. Sometimes
the way before you appears to be blocked. If you focus
on the obstacle or search for a way around it, you will
probably go off course. Instead, focus on Me, the
Shepherd who is leading you along your life-journey.
Before you know it, the obstacle will be behind you
and you will hardly know how you passed through it.
That is the secret of success in My kingdom.
Although you remain aware of the visible world
around you, your primary awareness is of Me. When
the road before you looks rocky, you can trust Me to
get you through that rough patch. My Presence enables you to face each day with confidence.

Heavens bells continually peal with that promise of
My Presence. Some people never hear those bells
because their minds are earthbound and their hearts
are closed to Me. Others hear the bells only once or
twice in their lifetimes, in rare moments of seeking
Me above all else. My desire is that My sheep hear
My voice continually, for I am the ever-present
Shepherd.
Quietness is the classroom where you learn to
hear My voice. Beginners need a quiet place in order
to still their minds. As you advance in this discipline,
you gradually learn to carry the stillness with you
wherever you go. When you step back into the mainstream of life, strain to hear those glorious bells: I am
with you. I am with you. I am with you.

and unconditionally loved. Dare to see yourself as I
see you: radiant in My righteousness, cleansed by My
blood. I view you as the one I created you to be, the
one you will be in actuality when heaven becomes
your home. It is My Life within you that is changing
you from glory to glory. Rejoice in this mysterious miracle! Thank Me continually for the amazing gift of
My Spirit within you.
Try to depend on the help of the Spirit as you go
through this day of life. Pause briefly from time to
time so you can consult with this Holy One inside
you. He will not force you to do His bidding, but He
will guide you as you give Him space in your life.

My Spirit.

search for security. In your private thoughts, you are
still trying to order your world so that it is predictable
and feels safe. Not only is this an impossible goal, but
it is also counterproductive to spiritual growth. When
your private world feels unsteady and you grip My
hand for support, you are living in conscious dependence on Me.
Instead of yearning for a problem-free life,
rejoice that trouble can highlight your awareness of
My Presence. In the darkness of adversity, you are
able to see more clearly the radiance of My Face.
Accept the value of problems in this life, considering
them pure joy. Remember that you have an eternity of
trouble-free living awaiting you in heaven.
