Introduction
These software technical specifications for the Land Rover module of Autologic
software is aimed at potential and existing customers of Autologic Diagnostics.
They give vehicle technicians, independent vehicle workshop owners and managers
an up-to-date, easy-to-follow and detailed guide to the capabilities of the Autologic
diagnostic tool. This enables you to evaluate the coverage, functionality and
capabilities of the Autologic software and compare it with other vehicle diagnostic
equipment which replicates the functionality of Original Equipment Manufacturer
(OEM) level vehicle diagnostic tools.
The latest version of this document is available on the autologic.com website as a
PDF file so that you can view, download or print it for your reference. You can
quickly scan through this document by clicking on the heading for the model of
vehicle you want to view in the table of contents.
Autologic Diagnostics update these software technical specifications on a regular
basis to include details about new vehicle models and to reflect the development
and the updates to the Land Rover module of Autologic software.
The main purpose of the document is to explain the full capabilities and
functionalities of Autologic by using the following criteria:
1.1
Land Rovers series of vehicles.
Individual models of Land Rover vehicles associated with each series of

vehicles.
Vehicle systems and subsystems, such as Drive, Chassis and Body.
Control units (control modules) full description listed in alphabetical

order, control unit abbreviation (if applicable) and all variants of the control
units (if applicable).
Autologics capabilities for diagnosing each control unit, that is to say, read
and clear DTCs, read dynamic data, get the control units ID, activate
components, flash programming, special functions, coding and configuring
control units.
Autologics vehicle-specific functionality for each model of vehicle, that is

to say, service reset, full car configuration editing, manufacturing mode
disable, vehicle reset, calibrate the air suspension and add, recover,
replace, remove and verify keys.

Orange bullet = Autologic can do the task in the column heading.

Grey shaded area = No vehicle diagnostic tool can do this task. For
example, it is not possible to activate vehicle sensors (listed under the
Activate components column heading).
White area = It is possible to do the task in the column heading but it is
in development and it has not yet been implemented. Please contact
Autologic Diagnostics Technical Support department for further
information.

Read & clear DTCs Read and clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs),
also known as diagnostic fault codes, to identify vehicle faults.
Read dynamic data Read live vehicle data, such as the engine
temperature, engine speed, vehicle speed and the suspension height data.
Get control unit ID Get the manufacturers part number, serial number
and software number for a particular control unit so you can identify and
check it. This allows you to see if the correct component is fitted to the
vehicle and, where applicable, if the software needs updating.
Activate components Activate particular components within applicable

systems to aid with fault diagnosis, such as activate seat functions and air
suspension valves.
Flash programming Many control units are flash programmable.

As part of the on-going support, vehicle manufacturers periodically release
updated software, often to overcome running issues. Autologic enables
you to do these updates. Autologic can program the control units on Land
Rover vehicles from 1998 model year onwards. Software files are
constantly updated to keep up with fixes from Land Rover. Most
powertrain and body control units need programming before they will work
on a vehicle. Autologic can also program keys and alarm remotes for all
Land Rover models.
Special functions These are sub-routines and tests that you can do
within particular systems. You may need to run some of these routines
after you have installed or tested particular components. For example, you
may need to calibrate the shift motor on a transfer box after you have
replaced it or reset the fuelling adaptations on an engine ECU after you
have replaced an engine management component.
Coding You can use Autologic to configure a control unit to function

differently for various vehicle configurations. Examples include the
language settings on the instrument cluster or the configuration of daytime
running lamps. You need to code some new control units when you first fit
them to a vehicle. You may also need to code some vehicles after you
have fitted accessories such as tow bars and driving lamps. Some
configuration options on Autologic are not available on the OEM-level
tools, so Autologic gives you more freedom to personalise your customers
vehicles.

Service reset To reset the service indicators warning light or message.
Full car configuration editing To alter the configuration of the vehicle

such as to enable accessories to be fitted.
Manufacturing mode disable Some new control units are supplied in

manufacturing mode. You need to clear this before you can use the control
unit on a vehicle.
Calibrate air suspension Autologic gives diagnostic and calibration

functions that exceed the dealer tool. Fault code reading, dynamic data,
component activation and standard height calibration is available for all
Land Rover models equipped with air suspension. Discovery 3, Range
Rover and Range Rover Sport models also have the additional height
lowering function which can lower the vehicles standard ride height at the
touch of a button.
Add, recover, replace, remove and verify keys You can add additional
keys, recover existing keys that have been lost and found, remove lost or
stolen keys and test the operation of the key so you know that the vehicle
is receiving the correct signal.
Land Rover vehicles that Autologic can diagnose

Autologic can diagnose all Land Rover vehicles as far back as 1989 up to the
present day. The Range Rover Classic was the first vehicle that was diagnosable.
