Weekly Publication for Middle School Parents ISSUE # 30
WEEK OF APRIL 05 TO 09, 2010
Dear Parents:
The past three months have been filled with activity, fun and numerous learning
experiences. Your children and the teachers have earned a well-deserved break. We
Sincerely,
Every year we have to deal with the administrative burden of trying to collect from parents the $1000 Re-enrollment Deposit.
This is difficult for many parents, especially those whose fees are paid by the sponsoring company, and more difficult still for
the school trying to collect from parents, especially those who are not sure of their circumstances.
This year we shall try something different. There will be no re-enrollment deposit. Instead, we shall expect all depart-
ing families to complete the WITHDRAWAL NOTIFICATION FORM on or before May 15th. Failure to do so will lead to
a deduction of $1,000.00 from the Facilities Upgrade Deposit.
As I am sure you understand, we at school face considerable pressure from families applying to enter their children into
ISM. We have to establish the May 15th deadline in order for us to be fair to those families on our waitlist. The earlier you
can tell us that you are leaving school, the sooner we can provide clear answers to in-coming families.
Sincerely Yours,
David Toze

This year we will be working with Renovate to Educate (rED). rED is an alumni foundation and a long-term partner of ISM.
Over the past few years 130 ISM students have worked on rED projects. The founders of rED are alumni who were motivated to action
by their experiences of service learning at ISM, and their personal desire to use their skills to improve the lives of others.
We invite all in the community to join us on this renovation project at Senator Renato "Compañero" Cayetano Memorial
Science and Technology High School, to support rED, and be part of our efforts to bring about positive change.
Slots are limited to 60 participants and will be offered on a first come first served basis so sign up early!

THE PROGRAM: Renovate to Educate is one such organization whose main objective is to aid in this area. By studying the
school and speaking to the individuals directly involved in its daily operations, rED is able to gauge what physical essentials are
needed. What differentiates rED’s efforts from the efforts of similar organizations is this: it aims to achieve this objective through
the involvement of neighboring private schools. With this involvement, rED hopes to provide them with an education not learned
within the high walls of their compound– that there is a community outside their own community. Working together with public and
private schools on renovation projects, rED hopes to nurture a stronger feeling of community between organizations. We all share the
same purpose: education.
