Introductiontoproject
1.Analysisofadesignproblem
a) Descriptionofthedesignproblem
The task of this project is to design and construct building and/or construction
models to a 1:87 (HO) scale model for QACI City.
b) Datafrommarketanduserresearch
The Research was focused on different scale model related sites including hobby craft
model sites. These sites mostly provided information on premade/preassembled or
unassembled models such as the dimension (length, width, height), base (types of
material, e.g. Mahogany) and scale of the model.

2.ConceptualDesign
a) Designideas
To make tracks and trains including turns, intersections, lights, cabins and
carriages.
The tracks were to be linked with jigsaw like joints.
Also the tracks had gaps between the rails to mimic the shape of the real
train tracks.

CAD
Constraints
Definition
CAD is an acronym for Computer Aided Design and it is
used to assist a designer in the development and
realization of a design concept utilizing a computer and
software
Constraints in a design can be features, sizes, function or
appearance etc. which are essential requirements and
not usually negotiable to change.
