The great quantity of iodine contains sea products: laminaria, herring, sole, cod, halibut, sea
perch, tunny-fish, salmon and other sea gifts; agaric, spinage, carrot and ananas contain less
iodine. Iodine is added to table salt (iodated salt).
Iodine can be found in underground waters but not all springs of drinking and healthy and table
mineral water contain iodine in the sufficient quantity for man’s organism. It is seen in the table.

To cover the daily iodine consumption it is necessary to drink mineral water “Kulager-Arasan”
for adult people two glasses and for children one glass.
“The researches tend to the study of possibilities of using group and individual prevention and
treatment of endemic goiter with the help of local mineral water are worth noticing.” M.E.
Zeltser, doctor of endocrinology, professor, Doctor of Medicine.
It was opened in 1910 and recently the scientists have come to conclusion that this
microelement is vitally important for men’s health.
Boron plays the role of catalyst of many chemical reactions in our organism. Due to these
reactions calcium is assimilated – the basic “constructing material” of osseous structure. It
prevents excess secretion of calcium and magnesium with urine. If there is enough boron in the
organism the child will growth duly, calcium is assimilated and there is no osseous diseases.
Boron effects on the accumulation of vitamin D in the organism it is also increases our
ability to assimilate calcium.
In the elderly age boron keeps from such diseases as senile osteoporosis, preventing washing out
of calcium from bones and depression of their structure. It supports hormone balance in the
organism.
Tomatoes, pears and apples, red wine, raisin, soy containing products, prunes, peanut, and
almond, dates, hazel, honey and sea products contain more boron than other products.
Vanadium
Vanadium was first noticed in 1876 because of its toxicity for people. But as it turned out despite
its toxicity vanadium is necessary for men’s health.
Vanadium was widely used in medicine a century ago. Diabetes was treated by it. Then was
insulin was invented and vanadium’s benefit was forgotten. It helps to form the bones,
metabolism of cholesterol and glucose. Just like insulin vanadium regulates the level of sugar in
blood and if necessary makes it lower. It controls the work of cardiac muscle. Vanadium controls
the condition of our teeth and bones. Our organism contains only 100 mkg of this element. The
average daily consumption of vanadium determined by doctors is only 10-60 mkg. Mushrooms,
black pepper, cancers and crabs, crop and green legumes, carrot, beet, parsley, olive oil,
sunflower seeds, apple seeds, dill seeds, soy products contain vanadium. If the level of vanadium
is low the deformation of skeleton may happen.
Cobalt
This element was discovered useful in 1926 when it was used in the treatment of anemia. Then
the scientists did not know that the effect of curing happened because cobalt is the part of
molecule of vitamin B12 (cyanogencobalt) and takes an active part in the synthesis of vitamin
B12 which stimulates duly circulation of blood. The positive influence of cobalt on blood
circulation can be noticed if organism is provided with sufficient quantity of copper and iron.
Necessary doses of cobalt are in sea products, milk, beef and pork liver, cereals, peas, beet,
carrot, strawberry and filbert.
The possible norm of cobalt consumption a day is 100-200 mkg.
The deficit of cobalt can lead to such symptoms just like vitamin B12 deficit tiredness, nervous
breakdown.

Copper
Copper can be found in any part of our organism and tissues of a man: liver, brain,
kidneys, muscular and bone tissue. Copper helps the iron transmission to the marrow, actively
takes part in many metabolism processes, and influences positively the function of endocrine
gland.
Copper deficiency can lead to osteoporosis and anemia, shedding of hair, diarrhea,
weakness, cardioamenothropy, skin ulcer, low hemoglobin and erythrocytes.
The daily norm of copper is 2 mg. Variety of food is enough.
The products rich in copper such as liver, fish, blackberry, cranberry, apricots,
gooseberry, strawberry and pears must be included in to the dietary intake for children. Milk
products contain low concentration of copper.
Molybdenum
Molybdenum is necessary for oxidation of sulfur at the albumen.
This element causes the metabolism of iron in the liver. This element is considered as a cofactor
in the ferment reactions running in the organism the most important of which prevents gout,
accelerating metabolism and removing uric acid from the organism. It takes part in the
transmission of electrons.
Molybdenum can be found in milk, beans, bread and buckwheat, wheat ovary, oats, lentil,
barley, sunflower seeds. The daily norm for adults and elder children is 50-100 mkg.
The deficit of molybdenum of healthy people caused inadequately its coming into the organism
has not been yet described. However such deficit under definite conditions appears: for example
when the exhausted organism suffering Crohn’s disease becomes long intravenous nutrition
without adding molybdenum. The symptoms can be as the increase of cardiac rhythm, short
breath, nausea, vomiting, confusion and development of coma. The molybdenum treatment can
lead to full recovery.

Zinc
Zinc is one of the main minerals necessary for people. Each part of our body contains zinc. It is
in the content of 100 ferments of the organism including those that responsible for the synthesis
of RNA and DNA; it is in the blood, muscular tissue, in the nails, hair, eyes, skin and liver. The
highest content of zinc is in the bones, liver, prostate and testicles.
Zinc is necessary for breath together with calcium it is in the part of bone skeleton. Digestion,
visual acuity, the nervous system, the reaction depend on the content of zinc. Zinc stimulates the
formation of insulin in the organism. Zinc makes for formation of albumen and nucleic acids and
it is responsible for man’s growth.
Even ancient Egyptians knew about the medicinal qualities of zinc and they invented zinc
ointment used for damaged areas of skin. Besides, it was found out that it was used not only as a
plaster for the healing of wounds but also the intake of products rich in zinc was useful. Zinc is
necessary for people post operational period.
Rheumatism and arthritis may be relieved and sometimes can be cured if we introduce to the day
ration zinc contained food. Medicaments containing zinc help the sick suffering from diabetes,
ulcer of alimentary canal.
Additional doses of zinc are to be taken to the people suffering from diabetes, chronicle diseases
of liver and kidneys, some types of anemia, because these illnesses as usual the result of zinc
deficiency.
Attention to the women! Simultaneous usage of zinc and vitamin A improves the skin. The effect
of zinc is antioxidant, detoxication, stress protecting, immune modulating, anti-inflammatory,
antianemic, normalizing appetite, strengthening intestinal wall, reparation; wound healing and
sore healing, regenerative the level of glucose in blood; normalizing menstrual cycle, promoting
sex hormones, development of fetus and the possibility to bear the pregnancy at full improving
sex functions; diminishing hypertrophy of prostate, protecting the functions of eyesight, taste and
smell, dermotrope and cosmetic.
Oysters, shrimps, crabs, cancers, meat, chicken, eggs, cheese and margarine are rich in zinc.
Also zinc can be in corn and bean, nuts and leek, soy less in green and other vegetables.
Vitamin A, B12, glucose, lactose, soy protein, red wine help to assimilate zinc in organism. In
southern countries where vine produced less people suffer from zinc deficiency and other
diseases connected with deficiency. Zinc protects from copper assimilation and preferably the
proportion of zinc and copper 10 to 1.
But zinc cannot be assimilated successfully because iron, manganese, calcium can prevent it if
they are taken in big doses. Cadmium also compete with zinc, it can replace zinc in the
organism. If the products we use contain high level of phytats (salts of phytic acids they can be
found in beans and greens) as a result of their interconnection there forms an element that can be
assimilated in the organism at all. The recommended daily norm is 10-11 mg, for pregnant
women is 15 mg, for nursing mothers is 20 mg. The zinc deficiency in the organism can bring to
gradual disturbance of the whole system of metabolism, provoke the development and worsen
the atherosclerosis, cirrhosis, cardiovascular collapse, weakens the immune and decrease the
resistibility of the organism to infections. The deficit of zinc evokes the disease of thymus; it is
the glands responsible for the formation of lymphocytes. The deficit of zinc influences at once
children and slows down the growth; leads to the loss of appetite and the decrease of zinc content
in hair.
