Mechanical Engineering students of Palawan State University having an educational tour

in different companies that help our learnings and learn about the companys principle.
Day 1 (April 6, 2015, Morning)
Wescor Transformer Corporation that generally produces and fabricates power and
distribution transformer consistent with the customers needs. Their products design our pass the
requirements of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association - American National Standard
Institute (NEMA-ANSI) but the specification of their products our based in Philippine Electrical
Code (PEC).
From this company we all observed how to make a dry type transformer and distribution
transformer oil immersed whether its single phase or three phase. The amount of load their
products is 1KVA to 3000 KVA auto type or induction type. From the assembly of transformer,
they discussed about the core and coil transformer assembly dry type and oil immersed. And they
teach us the steps about rewinding of transformer. When they finish the assembly of their
transformer they conduct every testing to satisfy the requirements of specification in PEC. To
make sure the safe and no failure when they use.
Day 1 (April 6, 2015, Afternoon)
Makban Geothermal Power Plant or Aboitiz Power is the holding company for the
Aboitiz Group's investments in power generation, distribution, retail and power services. It has
several hydroelectric and geothermal assets in its generation portfolio and also has nonrenewable power plants located across the country.
We learned from this company are there history, how they distribute the electric to the
consumers. First they discussed there company profile who is the founder and the goal of their
company to make cleanergy. Cleanergy is the aboitiz power brand that will be at the forefront to
bring that vision into reality leveraging on our expertise, especially in harnessing hydroelectric
energy. Then they have a tour of this company, they see the collection of item their founder,
collection of stone, cross sectional area of the pump, engine and their turbines. After the
discussion we going to their control system, we observe how to monitor the pressure and how to
resolve when the pressure insufficient. There have lot information I learned from this company
and wide understanding about the geothermal power plant.
Day 2 (April 7, 2015, Morning)
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas there primary objective is to maintain price stability
conducive to a balanced and sustainable economic growth. The BSP also aims to promote and
preserve monetary stability and the convertibility of the national currency.
We learned this company are the processing of money and they have a many stage to
make money and have the value in the market. But this educational tour in BSP is not connect in
our field.
Day 2 (April 7, 2015, Afternoon)

Steel Asia is the first modern steel bar mill in our country and the biggest supplier in the
Philippines steel industry. From the technology and manufacturing capacity there intended to
bring the Philippine steel industry to world class levels of quantity, service and manufacturing
efficiency.
First they have an orientation of their company, talking about the industry, the process,
export and import there products and making first I-beam in the couple of years. After the
orientation, they have tour their factory every section to understand what process to become a
round bar steel or their products. And they have many test to determine their products is to make
sure not substandard.
Day 3 (April 8, 2015, Morning)
Hytec Power has reached out to aid in the Academe and Industry Linkage that would
help provide quality education to our students. This is 100% sure Filipino owned company by
founder Engr. Eric Jude Soliman.
From this company, they have an academy or the training program that help to students
being competitive in needs in the industry. And they have advance technology in their facilities
that help to easy understand the theory and the actual aspects. That needs every students
understand the difference of this, and become knowledgeable of their field.
Day 3 (April 8, 2015, Afternoon)
Monark Equipment Corporation this is a rentals and sells their equipment in the heavy
equipment industry.
We explained their foundation or Monark Foundation, Inc. that help the Filipino youth to
educate in heavy equipment servicing. This education have a good quality technical knowledge
and practical competencies in the industry. And they have highly motivated to learn and develop
skills of individuals to competent globally. We learned anything from them, from their equipment
caterpillar, their proper maintenance and they have a complete tool equipment. And they have
a facilities that test the lubrication.
Day 4 (April 10, 2015, Morning)
Pilipinas Hino, Inc. is mainly engaged in the assembly and distribution of quality Hino
buses and trucks, distribution of genuine Hino spare parts and supply of other automotive-related
products and services.
We learned the process to build a truck, bus, and utility vehicles bodies. From the chassis
to the complete build of unit. They have many sector that build every aspects of the unit to make
sure there products is competent in other foreign units.

Day 4 (April 10, 2015, Afternoon)


LRTA Light Rail Transit Authority is recognized as the premiere rail transit in the
country providing reliable, efficient, dependable, and environment-friendly mass rail services to
all residents of Metro Manila. LRTA is a wholly owned government corporation.
We learned the history of the transportation in the Philippines. They explained their
operation and their solution when they have a unit is under maintenance. But theyre not
explained widely their operation and their control system.

All the company visited, we learned a lot from the theory ideas to the technical and they
have motivate all of them to become successful. And all the company there goal is the
satisfaction of the consumer and safe of their products or equipment.
