video/animation, sound effect and background music
(7 minutes/group) followed by Debate (10 minutes)

Note that two groups will be given 7 minutes each to
present a topic which contradicts each other.

– Debate will be based on the topic given. However,
the debate question will be given on the presentation
day itself.

called at random during tutorial – volunteers not

international journal papers/materials (will be decided
later) using Engineering Science Department PITA
report format (5000 – 7500 words)
– Scientific research proposal writing (2500 – 3000
words) using Engineering Science Department PITA
format plus oral presentation on any topic of choice

Course evaluation….
evaluation
• Three evaluation concepts will be used.
MD – Merit and Demerit: Marks will be awarded for
positive points and deducted for negative points
M – Merit only: Marks will be given for positive points
only. No marks will be awarded and deducted for
negative points
points. What are positive and negative
points?
SS – Survival System: Each group and individual will
have to compete with each other in order to be the
best and survive. Marks will be allocated based on
comparative performance

Rules of Engagement….

• Attendance is COMPULSORY. Since this course does not have a final
examination, a student found absence without reasons supported by
documents or p proof of reasons shall have his/her final course mark
deducted. The rate of deduction will be 5 marks per absence case. If you
are absence for three lectures on a stretch without reasons as stated above,
you will be referred to the HOD or Dean.
• If you fail to pass-up any assignment on time stated, your assignment mark

• If you are late more than 15 minutes after lecture begins without good
reasons, you are considered to be absent.
• No student is allowed to leave lecture early unless it is an emergency.
• Any student caught ‘cheating’ in any form or way, stern action will be taken

• Bad behaviour during lecture will result in disciplinary action.
