David Lynch, USA TODAY’s global business writer, earned his BA with honors from
Wesleyan University and his MA in international relations from Yale. He was
awarded the Nieman Fellowship from Harvard in 2002. He has shaped USA
TODAY’s international coverage, reporting from 35 countries, and as the founding
Beijing Bureau Chief, oversaw all coverage of the People’s Republic of China. In
his current role as a global business writer, Lynch covers U.S. trade policy, current
account deficit, oil imports and the global economy. He delivers first-hand
accounts of economic developments in countries such as Venezuela, Brazil, Iran and South Africa.

Laura Petrecca earned her BA in journalism from the University of Maryland and
an MA in journalism and certificate in business and economics from Columbia
University. She was one of only ten journalists selected for the Knight-Bagehot fel-
lowship at Columbia University for 2001-2002. She has worked as the deputy
bureau chief and a senior editor for Ad Age, a senior editor for Prevention
Magazine, a business reporter/columnist and Sunday business editor for the New
York Post, and is currently a reporter in USA TODAY’s Money section, covering
advertising, marketing and media out of the newspaper’s New York bureau.

David Lieberman, who joined USA TODAY in 1993 and currently covers media for
the Money section, earned a certificate in economics and business journalism from
Columbia University, a BA in history and political science from Washington
University and two Master’s degrees from the University of Michigan – one in
American culture and one in journalism. Lieberman previously held positions at
several media outlets including TV Guide, as a reporter (1990-1993),
BusinessWeek, as the media and entertainment editor (1987-1990), The
MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour, as the economics reporter (1984-1986), The Hartford Courant, as the
editorial writer (1981-1984), and The Hartford Advocate, as a reporter (1978-1981).
