GOAL
If supply Purchase Orders do not have any demand against them, there is a cancel message for
the Purchase order in the MRP Planners Workbench - MRPSCPWB. Similar cancel messages appear
for supply WIP Discrete Jobs with no actual demand. This is further complicated as WIP Discrete
Jobs with components added to them will not be planned for by MRP (ie only the WIP discrete job
shows up in the MRP workbench with a cancel message but none of the component requirements are
planned by MRP). Also sometimes the WIP Discrete Job or Purchase Order will not show up in the MRP
workbench at all even though they are open in their respective modules. Several questions come up on
how to resolve this issue:
1. How do we stop the system from recommending a cancel action?
2. How do we get the component requirements for the WIP Discrete Job to be planned by MRP
3. How do we get the missing Purchase Orders and WIP Discrete Jobs to be picked up by MRP and show
in the Planners Workbench?

SOLUTION
You should always have demand for an item in order to validate the need for the supply. However there
are situations where some customers decide not to create the demand, but simply create the supply for
it. This can be done but it's not recommended as there's no audit trail for the supply being created
when there's no actual demand for it

1. Enable the firm checkbox in the Purchasing/WIP module for the Purchase Order/WIP Discrete Job in
question and save. Then rerun the MRP plan with plan option Overwrite = All.

2. If you perform step 1 above for the problem WIP Discrete Job, the MRP plan will pick up
the component requirements added to the job so long as the MRP Net checkbox is enabled for
thosecomponents on the job in question.

3. This could be a problem where the record has not been processed by the Planning Manager or
has another problem, but typically this occurs when the MRP Plan Name/Options has something other
than All Planned Items selected for the Planned Items field. Make sure this field is set to All Planned
Items and then rerun the plan with Overwrite = All
