Group Members are required to bring their Identification Card( IC ) and also
Student Matrix Card during competition.

Rules & Regulations


ALL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS are allowed to participate in this competition
Titleof the debate for will be given in advance and for the Final round, the title will be given on the day of
the competition.
Advocacy team and the opposition team will be announced in advance. It will be selected based on the
draws that will be done on the day of competition.
Each team must consist of 4 participants. No matter of any gender. Three of them need to act as
speakers and one person will be substitute.
FIRST DEBATER WILL BE GIVEN 6 MINUTES to present his/her argument while SECOND
AND THE THIRD DEBATER WILL BE GIVEN 5 MINUTES.
For the first debater, the first bell will ring once in the 5th minute and the 2nd bell will ring twice in the 6 th
minute.
For the second and third debater, the bell will ring once in the 4th minute and 2nd bell will ring twice in the 5 th
minute.
Each group will be given 2 minutes to discuss and make overall conclusion within 3 minutes of arguments.
The marks will be given for the conclusions.
ARGUMENTS AFTER THE FINAL BELL WILL NOT BE TAKEN INTO COUNT BY THE
JUDGES.
If there are two teams from the same university competing in the first round, such situation will be avoided.
However, for other rounds it will not be avoided. Teams must compete even if they are from the same
university.
Debaters are allowed to submit reasonable evidence to strengthen their arguments. (Example. Newspaper
cuttings, photos, etc.)
The participants from each university are advised to prepare speech in both support and rebuttal for the
specific topic.
The winning team will automatically be qualified for the next round.

DEBATERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO OFFEND ANY PARTY EITHER DIRECTLY OR


INDIRECTLY.
THE JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL AND CONCLUSIVE.
Groups that oppose the decision of the judges will be eliminated from the competition.
The organizers reserve the right to eliminate any group that violates the rules as stated above.
The distribution of the marks are placed as below:

Participants are required to be dressed in a PROPER TRADITIONALATTIRE.


Each team is required to pay RM60 as registration fees and the AMOUNT IS STRICTLY NONREFUNDABLE.
Title of debate will be given to each team after registration fees have been made.
All prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable for cash.
BOARD MEMBERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSSES, DAMAGES, OR
INJURIES BEFORE, DURING OR AFTER EVENT.
Participants must be responsible for their own safety and personal health during the competition.
