Me and my parents
in Ecuador

Dear friends and family,

Revive: Ecuador

This season of ministry has been a learning curve. I started teaching English classes for the
community and because I am not a teacher by trade, it has definitely been a challenge! I have
about 30 students in my first class and have been asked to start two more clases. The good
thing is that the people who come to classes are passionate about learning English which
makes it a little bit easier and more fun. I incorporate scriptures and Bible lessons into my
English classes which the students have been enjoying as well.
The youth group is
growing little by little.
When I started in
March we had about
20 youth attending
regularly and now we
have 35-45 youth
coming on any given
week! We are going
through a discipleship
book, teaching the
basics of the Christian
church and faith.
Although the study is
a little heavy at times,
the youth seem to enjoy the challenge. We are starting to plan our next youth camp coming up
in January. Camps are a great way for the youth to get away and refocus on their faith.
Awanas Bible Club
continues to be one of
my favorite parts of
ministry here in
Ecuador. I have been
with the same group of
kids for almost a year
now and its fun
watching them grow,
not only spiritually and
individually, but also as
a group, learning to love
and serve each other
and the people in their
lives. Recently we were
talking about salvation
during class and one girl was bold enough to express that she was not a believer. Macarena
comes from a non-christian home and her father is abusive. The whole class chimed in saying
that she should talk to me after class because it was important that she give her life to Jesus
that day. After class she stayed behind and I got to share the Gospel in more detail. Since it is a
Bible club, most of the time
we asume that the kids are
Christians and come from
Christian homes. At the
end, Macarena prayed with
me and she is now a
follower of Jesus! The
following week Macarena
was smiling ear to ear as
she shared with the class
that she was now a
Christian and a sister in
Christ.

Being away from home

has been really
difficult, recently,
because my dad had an
aneurysm which almost
cost him his life.
Following that, he
spent over a month in
the hospital and
multiple months
recuperating in Alaska.
I could not be there
during the surgery or
his recuperation. About
a month ago, my dad
got the go ahead from
his doctors to travel
interna-tionally and I
was able to see my dad
for the first time since
his surgery. Accompanied by my mom, they
made the long trek to
Ecuador. We had a
great 10-days, seeing

new places and visiting
old ones that they love. They saw my new ministries and we just enjoyed time together and took advantage of us all being
alive and healthy. I was reminded of Gods goodness for not only saving my dads life but also at Gods miraculous healing.

Ricardo
One Sunday afternoon, after church, I went for a drive with a friend to a waterfall that is tucked between a lot of indigenous
communities about two hours from where I live. It was a perfect day for an afternoon swim. As we started back, we were flagged down by a little boy who looked about 6 years old and was covered from head to toe in dirt. We figured it would be better
for us to pick him up than someone else. As he hopped in the car, he proceeded to ask us to take him to the hospital near the
city where we live which was two hours away. He told us that he just missed the last bus and that he wanted to go see his
mother who was sick with bad chest pains. His vocabulary was way better than a 6 year old and we found out that he is 9 years old, the oldest of six kids to a single mother. His father left them after his baby brother was born. Ricardo does not attend
school because he has to work in the fields to provide for his family. As the oldest male in my family, it is my duty. These are
not things a nine year old should be having to worry about. He went on to say that each sibling only had one set of clothes and
most of the time they didnt have enough food to eat. I have returned since, to this community, bringing food and clothes to
help this family. But this is not the only family
who lives in such a situation.

Christmas Basket Project

Working at the orphanage for so many years, I have seen many
parents who love their kids and families but, due to lack of resources,
feel they have to give up their children to institutions because they
cannot provide for them. It is not because they dont love their
children, its because they love them that much. For years God has
been putting these families in my path and has given me a passion to
help them; to help this single mom of six kids who loves her children
and wants to keep them but needs a little bit of help. So, I want to
start a Christmas Basket Project, making baskets of food to bring to
families in jungle communities. These baskets will contain basic
necessities like rice, sugar, oil, tuna, noodles, salt, soaps,
toothbrushes, toothpaste and some toys for the kids.
Of course, I cant do this without YOUR help. I am hoping to make
about 200 baskets to give to families in need. To make this happen, I
need to raise $1,500 by December 23 so that these families can have
food to make a dinner for Christmas day.
You can make a donation through CornerStone International for
