WHAT IS ELECTRO-CHLORINATION?
elysisPURE series Electro-chlorination Generator produce the disinfectant sodium hypochlorite
from sea water or salt water (Brine) on your own site.
Sodium hypochlorite is a chemical
compound with the formula NaOCl.
Sodium hypochlorite solution,
commonly known as bleach is
frequently used as disinfectant or
bleaching agent.

GENERATION PRINCIPLE
SEA water or refined salt is mixed with softened water in the
saturator to from saturated brine. It is diluted to 3% by softened
water and injected into the electrolyzer. The solution is then
electrolyzed with direct current (DC power).
The anode produced is chlorine gas and the cathode produced is
sodium hydroxide and hydrogen. These two substances react with
each other to form sodium hypochlorite solution.

MORE TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Within the elysisPURE Electrolyzer, the seawater or brine solution which is a good conductor of
electricity, supports a current applied between the positive and negative electrodes, thus
electrolyzing the sodium chloride solution. This results in chlorine (Cl2) gas being produced at the
positive electrode (anode), while sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and hydrogen (H2) gas is produced at
the negative electrode (cathode). The chlorine further reacts with the hydroxide to form sodium
hypochlorite (NaOCl).

THIS REACTION CAN BE SIMPLIFIED IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER:

Seawater + Energy = Sodium Hypochlorite


Or
Softened water + Salt + Energy = Sodium Hypochlorite
NaCl + H2O + DC Electricity = NaClO + H2

elysisPURE SERIES SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE GENERATOR FEED FROM SEAWATER OR BRINE

KALF is the market leader in the on-site generation of sodium hypochlorite from fresh water,
having over 25 installations worldwide. The brand of elysisPURE on-site sodium hypochlorite
generating systems range in capacity from 24 to 48,000 kg/day of chlorine equivalent and
generate a 0.2-0.8% sodium hypochlorite solution using three common consumables:
Salt, water and electricity. Depending on application or site special needs, elysisPURE systems are
available as skid-mounted or component based systems. The skid mounted systems are fully
operational and generating sodium hypochlorite within short period.

elysisPURE series Electro-Chlorinator is a alternative disinfection system for small or large water

of disinfection practices. On-site Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl) generation requires only sea water
and electricity to produce sodium hypochlorite. Unlike conventional 12% to 15% hypochlorite
purchased, which will be degraded over a course of time, Sodium Hypochlorite generated on-site
will always maintain its strength.

Then the sea water temperature is below 10C, or water salinity is less than 16g/L, the
efficiency of electrolysis will be reduced. So please contact us before selection.
The hydrogen is typically diluted with air using a set of blowers to a safe level. The
equipment room should be well-ventilated and set 4 ventilation pipes in the corners of the
roof and cowls outside.

Petrochemical Works or Refinery, biological fouling is an ever present cause for treatment. Biofouling restricts the cooling flow at CW pump intakes, in pipe runs and reduces heat transfer
