A H1 N1 (SWINE FLU)

AGNIHOTRA AS THE MOST POWERFUL TOOL TO COMBAT THE FLU

Our rishis (sages of yore) have prescribed agnihotra (daily Yajna) as the second mahayajna of
our daily routine. The scientific processes during the performance of Yajna is described in the
Veda and the medicinal part of it rests in the AtharvaVeda, which is the source of Ayurveda
(ayurvedic medicine), which in turn is the foundation of allopathic, homeopathic, and other
types of medicine.

How can some samidhas (fire wood) and samagri help to cleanse the environment?

The havan kund (fire-vessel) has a conical or inverse pyramid shape which is conducive to
the build-up of a very high temperature, some 200-300°C at the base and some 1200-1300°C
at the middle part where the fire is blazing. The three processes are combustion, evaporation
and sublimation. Part of the oblations is burnt to produce energy (combustion), some
evaporates and the major part sublimates (passes from solid to gaseous state.)

The water vapour emerging from jal sinchana (water sprinkled around the havan kund) reacts
with the gases to form formaldehyde (a powerful antiseptic used to clean operation theatres.
Moreover through the combustion, evaporation and sublimation processes, the samidhas and
the samagri are returned to nature in their molecular units. Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati has
prescribed, in the Sanskar Vidhi the various types of wood sticks as samidhas and the various
plants (mainly medicinal herbs) to be used in the preparation of samagri, based on the edicts
of the Veda.

The vapours arising out of the havan kund thus purifies the air and cleanses it of rogkrimiyan
(bacteria and viruses.) Yajna Therapy or Havan Chikitsa is prescribed in Ayurvedic Medicine
(Charaka & Sushruta Samhitas.) Medicine calls it Aroma Therapy, Moxa, etc.

Research was conducted by Swami Satyaprakash (holder of a DSC in Chemistry) and Slater
& Rideal on twelve identical culture dishes divided in two batches of six. The first set was
placed in a room where agnihotra was performed and the second in another room with normal
conditions, unaffected by the vapours of agnihotra. The results were astounding as the first
set (subjected to agnihotra) had minimal bacterial culture and the second set had grown
numerous types of bacteria and in very large numbers.

In 1984 five families living in the vicinity of the Union Carbide gas plant were unaffected by
the leakage of highly toxic gases. Eminent scientists from the Research Department of the
Indian Army, Germany, Russia, and other countries inquired over this narrow escape to
discover that these families were performing agnihotra (yajna) daily.

In 1994-95 the population of Gujarat, India suffered plague. The tangible results to curb
down the epidemic came from Agnihotra performed on a trailer pulled by a tractor. The
Bramhacharis (students) of Tankara Gurukul, run by the Maharishi Dayanand Smarak Trust,
were the lead persons in the performance of Yajna reaching all nooks and corners of the state
of Gujarat.

The 2006 episode of Chikungunya and Dengue in Gujarat were successfully tackled through
Yajna across the state of Gujarat. Again the Bramhacharis (students) of Tankara Gurukul and
those of the Darshan Yoga Mahavidyaalaya of Rojad were the lead persons in the
performance of Yajna.

The narrow escape of some families from the devastating spread of radioactivity from the
Tchernobyl nuclear power plant may seem astounding. These were poor families who had
lined up the walls of their houses with cow dung set for drying and onwards use as fuel.

Our rishis, expounding the Vedic knowledge, have prescribed the performance of Yajnas in
havan kunds dug in the ground and the inner lining to be completed (masoned) by a mixture
of earth, cow dung and cow urine. These three items are used extensively in Naturopathy and
Ayurveda to cure what the common man calls ‘incurable ills.’

The RigVeda (hymn 10.161.4) reads:

Shatam jeeva sharado vardhamanah: shatam hemantachatamu vasantana ¦
Shatamindragni savita brihaspati: shatayusha havisheman punardu ¦¦

The human race is bound to avail of the various types of healing, namely – energy / fire, air,
water, earth and havan chikitsa if we desire to live, in good health for a hundred years and
more.

The following ingredients would be useful to combat the swine flu virus:

Ghee
 (pure clarified butter made from dairy milk)

Samidhas (wood sticks) of

 Kapur (camphor); Mango; Chandan; Peepal; Barh (multipliant or la fourche); branches of
Tulsi (basil)

Samagri, i.e. a mixture of

 Gur (Jaggery or raw sugar / sucre roux & molasses);
 Bark of Cinnamon (canelle) & Arjuna terminalia (7 la peau);
 Seeds of White mustard (moutarde jaune), Dhaan (unhusked rice), Jauw (unhusked wheat),
split Moong beans, split Urad beans, green and black Cardamon (elaïti) pods, black Pepper
(poivre) seeds, Clove (girofle), Anis (anis étoilé), Ajwaïn,
 Dried Grapes (raisins or sultanas), Dates;
 Powder of red Chandan, Turmeric (saffron) powder;
 Leaves of Giloï / Giloye, Neem (lila de perse), Citronella (lemon grass), Paan (betel), Tulsi
(basil), Mango, Peepal, Eucalyptus, Camphor, bois-d’oiseau.

The ingredients used for oblations to the fire should have the following properties:
Fragrance (chandan, kesar, elaïti, etc.);
Destroy bacteria & viruses / Health promoting (medicinal herbs – Giloy, ajwain, neem, etc.);
Physical development (ghee, etc.); and
Sweetness (jaggery, sugar, dried raisins, etc.)
