THE ROLE OF RELIGIOUS PARTIES IN

PAKISTAN
At the time of partition jamaitay islami, jamaitul hind and majlisay ahrar was strong
religious parties. These three parties opposed the creation of a separate Muslim state of Pakistan.
The stance was that land identified by Muslim league is not enough according to the population
of Muslims. So large number of Muslims who will be left in India either by choice or by
necessity. According to them after creation of Pakistan the Muslims in India got into political
crisis and since then they are still in black hole. JUI is a Deobandi organization, part of the
Deobandi movement. The JUI formed when members broke from the Jamiat Ulema-eHind in 1945 after that organization backed the Indian National Congress against the
Muslim League's lobby for a separate Pakistan. The first president of the JUI was Allamah
Shabbir Ahmad Usmani. Currently in Pakistan, it has three groups: that of Maulana Fazal-urRehman (JUI-F), that of Maulana Sami-ul Haq (JUI-S) and that of Maulana Asmatullah (JUI-N).
Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman and Maulana Asmatullah Both are members of the National Assembly
of Pakistan . There are 245 religious parties in Pakistan, Daily Times research has shown. Of
these, 28 openly take part in politics, 104 claim to focus on jihad and 82 on sectarian concerns.
20 parties are of Tableeghee proselytization. The remaining 23 are involved in activities of a
mixed nature. The Deobandi parties are more politically active. Seven have been participating in
the electoral process. Three are represented in parliament JUI-F, JUI-Sami and Sipah-e-Sahaba.
Six Barelvi, four Shia, and four Ahle Hadiath parties, too, participated in the elections. Two
Barelvi parties the Pakistan Awami Tehrik and Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan are represented in
parliament. Two Shia parties Islami Tehrik and Shia Political Party and one Ahle Hadiath
party, Markazi Jamait Ahle Hadiath, are also in parliament. In spite of large in numbers why
did they are not succeed? This is very important question that should to be answered. Lets over
view the different causes. After partition we got two big religious parties jamatay islami and
jamiat ul Islam. The pioneer of jamatay islami was molana mododi, this party purely follow the
ideology of mododi. But if we follow this ideology and think tank we find that vision was not
cleared at the time of partition and after partition. This party religiously supported the Islamic
visionary government that was ruled by caliph. But if we review the all elections in the past and
now, we find that in every election its been participated and never claimed or demand to change
the way of election or system. Every time the opinion was two folded. If democracy is only the
way to rule out the people then there should some sort of rules and regulation but amazingly their
isnt. Some of JIs own policies resulted in its failures; there were factors beyond the partys
control that also contributed towards its poor performance in the elections. The JI started off as a
platform for Mawdudis ideas. However, later conflicts developed on the objectives and vision of
the party. JI as a political party had to make certain compromises that did not go in parallel with
its ideology. For example,in 1965, JI was supporting Fatima Jinnah for her presidential campaign
against Ayub Khan in 1965 even though it was against Mawdudis views on the social role of
women (Nasr, 1996, 44). Moreover, by siding with General Zia after the fall of Bhuttos regime,
JI showed its willingness to work with authoritarian regimes to achieve its objectives. And same
behaviour is shown when Musharraf kicked out Nawaz Sharif and grabs the government, this

party warmly welcomed the Marshal law.If any one have any doubt about it just read the
newspaper of that time in which Qazi hussain ahmed who was ameer at that time demand the
army to take over the government. And when musharaf toke over the government he was first
one who sided with him. If dictator is not legal authentication to govern then why every time
embrace it.This created an unfriendly relationship between the JI and other political
parties. Lets view the performance of JUI,it remained a predominantly religious organization
with limited political activity until it was revived by Maulana Mufti Mahmood as a vehicle to
oppose the modernization policies of then President of Pakistan, General Ayub Khan. Following
the collapse of the Khan regime in the late 1960s, the JUI participated in Pakistan's first general
elections in 1970. JUI is working continuously to convert the law of country according to their
terminology of Islam. Ideologically, JUI is regarded as uncompromisingly rigid, insisting on
strict enforcement of traditional Islamic law. JUI helped establish thousands of madrasahs in
Pakistan, more than any other religious movement, and is reported to have affiliations with the
Taliban movement in Afghanistan. But after death of mufti mahmood his son inherited this
party, who did not get the same guts and repute as his fathers got. As we consider his
reputation he will be lowest in the rank, well known as molana diesel and I think you know
why? The JUI is part of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), an alliance of religious parties
that won 11.3% of the popular vote and 53 out of 272 elected members in the 2002 elections. In
the 2008 Pakistani general election, only the JUI-F participated because the other major
component party of the MMA, the Jamaat-e-Islami, boycotted the elections to protest issues of
the eligibility of President Pervez Musharraf and the restoration of the judiciary. Unlike the 2002
elections when the MMA swept national and provincial assemblies, in 2008 the JUI-F only won
6 general seats in the National Assembly, which garnered them 1 additional seat in the Women
Reserved section, raising the total to 7 NA seats. In the provincial assemblies, it won 14 seats in
the NWFP Assembly, but could only muster 2 seats in the 371-seat Punjab Assembly. The party
received strong support in Pakistan's western regions The main reason of this was unworthy
decision of MMA to elect the musharf as a president due to under ground deal between MMA
and musharf government. And in return the gift was to soothing with majority of seats in
parliament. In Pakistan politics, the extremist wing is also activated in some era. Here two
extreme parties is gone to be discussed Sipahay Sahaba and Tahrikay Jaffirya. The SSP follows
the Deobandi school of Sunni Islam. It wishes for Pakistan to be a Sunni state and has declared
Shiites non-Muslims and promotes the killing and genocide of Shias by any means. The
organization also calls for a restoration of the Khilafat and a sunni only state of Pakistan where
all other religions and sects to be classed as second class citizen with no rights to take part in
politics to form government and to gain prominent posisitions. Whereas Tahrek-a-jaffiriya The
main objective of this party, banned two times by President Pervez Musharraf's government. It is
said that sipahay sahaba been supported by Saudi and some says by Americans and tahrikay
jaffariya by Iranians . The ideological clash between these two parties genocide many sunni and
shia peoples. Both parties created their own militant wings for this. Pakistan is known in the
international community and declared in the countrys Constitution as an Islamic nation where
Islam is glorified as the superb religion and its followers are pious Muslims. There is no doubt
that Islam teaches tolerance, love, respect for other religions, and that life and death are in the
hands of Allah. The killing of any human being is forbidden and in the Quran it is the highest
form of sin. Genocide on the basis of ideology cant be prolonged for many years now the
clashes between two extremists is been settled down by political dialogue. Political stabilities
are major problem of Pakistan in every year since its time of creation. Islam taught us to

spend life with principals that set by almighty ALLAH. Islam is not gained its power verbally
but to empower it should live in our soul. All religious parties adopt Islam verbally and
apparently but spiritually far away. Pakistan is only country where political freedom is without
any boundaries, here every one has its own party either its religious or secular or in any shape.
How unfortunate that in spite of this freedom islamization is totally failed. Islam is give us
complete code of life, our living, eating, inner and outer relations ,social, economic, each and
every thing it covered up. The main thing is its implementations. If Islamic system was a only
myth then how could Muhammad(S.A.W) become great ruler, how could his followers the
four caliph succeeded, how could umer bin abdul aziz suceeded, how could akhwanul
muslimeen and rafah party succeeded. The one and only reason behind it they all are
committed, there is no differ in their words and deeds, and above all they were honest with
themselves. If you are honest with your commitment you can blow everything, you can
achieve anything. These parties before and after partition called Muhammad ali jinnah
seculer, shiai, even kafir and some claimed him agent. Tell me with all these objections why
do he succeed? Because he was man of commitment, a man of honor and honest, a man of
dignity, a man of loyalty. He had a passion for Islamic state he had a love for Muslims, put
all his effort, his life, his strength to Pakistan. On the other hand what these so-called
Islamic parties do? No thing just creates dissension among us. Never got any objection on
jamatul hind which sided with congress at the time of partition, never feel of ashamed
themselves for doing nothing just mobbing every time. Mislead the whole nation in the name of
Islam. Now we should have clear cut vision of Islamic state, as Islam is not only the savior of
this world but also for eternity. Let it be the basic ingredient of our life. We should not put our
religious and worldly matters in separate boxes. In Islam we can find our world. We should
adopt tint of passion, loyalty, honesty, dignity, commitment, and some good deeds we
definitely attain our goal.

Stunted mindset banging their heads on a solid lead dead end.
The problem lies with the individuals unable to separate personal responsibility from that
of a state's. Shoving religion into the state's hands does not make a model ummah. There
should be no doubt left about this simple truth.
Here another moron after first citing the failed attempts of shirking individual onus, still
yearns for Amrit to pour out of a state that is now body with pus oozing from all its
orifices.
/Now we should have clear cut vision of Islamic state, as Islam is not only the savior of
this world but also for eternity. Let it be the basic ingredient of our life. We should not put
our religious and worldly matters in separate boxes. In Islam we can find our world. We
