29 oil wells, serious paraffin issue during the


production
Per the reports from 2010, Of 11 rod pumping wells
and 3 ESP wells, production has be be stopped for
8 times, 30,000 meters of pumping rod has to be
replaced because of paraffin buildups.
Conventional hot oil treatment was employed,
which resulted in loss circulation of hot oil because
of low formation pressure.
Qi 24-8 well, serious pumping rod paraffin deposit
occurred, one hot oil treatment every 120 days;

Downhole unit was installed in
Qi 24-8 well;
Till January, 2012coninous
production for 325 days
without any hot oil treatment;
The comparison of pump card
and Amps, the load and amps
are in the normal area,
totaled at a production
increase of 337 tons.

Before installation:

Production started on Dec. 14, 1997 with ESP. The oil production
was stabilized above 100 m3/d after acidizing in 1998.

Since mid April, 2005, EPS failed frequently due to scale buildup

A magnetic scale tool was run into the well, but it did not work,
failed in a short time, less than 3 months

It was concluded that such a frequent pump inspection and


repair was mainly caused by the downhole scale buildup, which
resulted pump failure and reduced production.

Scale analysis indicated that the main composition of


scale is Ba0.75Sr0.25SO4, up to 98%
Barium(Ba) and Strontium (Sr) scale, which is the most
difficult scale to deal with

After the installation

The ESP was repaired on May 4, 2006, and a Enmax


CPRS downhole unit was run into the well with the ESP.

After the installation of Enmax CPRS downhole tool,


Enmax Shanghai was advised that the production had
been stabilized at 250 m3/d, with a crude production
of 80 m3/d, and no more EPS failure because of scale
buildups

Till the report date, Oct. 16th, 2008, continuous


production for 892 days, no breakdown

Within 892 days, EPS repair related cost saving >


7,700,000 RMB, Oil production increase >16,500.000 RMB

This downhole CPRS unit is still working in this well today

downhole reason, and CPRS
performance evaluation was
done at this moment

flowline and valves;
NE-3 test line and production
line, which was not treated by
CPRS, was almost totally

the same conclusion, the flow

Chemicals were used for scale issues,
but scale buildup has been a trouble
issue all the time.

Jan., 5, 2006 at the inlets of 3 heaters;
Chemicals stopped on Mar., 17, 2006;
Before the final evaluation in Nov,
2016, CPRS units had been running
for 10 months without any problem.
For evaluation of the scale
prevention performance of CPRS, 3
locations (2#4# heater tubes and
water mixing pump) were selected
for inspection points;
Two inspections done in June and
August, 2006.

Serious scale buildup in Tarim


Oilfield, for example, TZ163 Well
p r o d u c t i o n l i n e s c a l e i s s u e
averagely 3 cm scale deposit every
3 months.
The production lines have to be
acid cleaned periodically, but still
not as well as expected, which
influenced the production rate and
increased the production cost.

was in installed on TZ163 production
line, in Sept, 2013
CPRS unit was installed on the
production lines underground.

100 days after the CPRS unitTZ163
had been producing without any
problems.

connections at 5 meters and 200
meters away after the CPRS unit were
opened for inspection, no scale
deposits at all.

Conclusion
After three month trial application,
CPRS did prevent scale buildup
successfully , which reached and
exceeded the oilfield expectation.

in TZ163 Wellto
confirm the
repeatability of CPRS
performance, the same
units was removed and
installed on TZ4-755 well,
which is known to have
the worst scale issue.

2015, the CPRS units
was opened on
TZ4-755 well for
inspection.

Wenbin, witnessed these two
trial test inspection.
Tarim Oil Field made a
decision to only use Enmax

any success.
