INTRODUCTION
Application to reserve or using a computer lab in UPSI can be apply by filling a
form that already being prepared. The form can be found in Information
Technology Building (pentagon). The process of application is conducted
manually, start from by taking a form of application and filling it, then submit. To
check the status of application whether it is approved or not is also manually by
asking staff at the pentagon or contact them.
Using this method is not very efficient. So, we decided to make a Computer Lab
Reservation System. This way, the applicant can easily make a reservation and it is
more efficient. We interview a computer technician in pentagon that handle the
computer lab management. Here are her details:

The interview
We already prepared some question needed to be asked to gather the requirement:
1. Computer lab reservation is being done manually or online?
Its using the manual way which is filling a application form and filling all the
details.
2. How is the process to apply a reservation manually?
They(the technician) need to know whether the applicant is student or staff.
They need phone number to notify the applicant about the application status.
They need to know the purpose for using the computer lab because each
computer lab has its own purpose.
3. Other than computer lab, what else facilities provided in pentagon?
They handle mostly on management of computer lab.
4. What should be done if student request a reservation?
Student should take a application form from the counter at pentagon same
like lecturers and UPSI staff.
5. What details needed in the reservation record?
They already make a timetable for the whole computer lab in system.
The applicant just need to fill a application form

About the system

From what the technician says, each computer lab have been installed a different software in
its computer for certain purpose. In pentagon they have different types of computer lab, each has
its own purpose such as for multimedia, gaming and software engineering. The other computer
lab which is located at FSKIK building is also being handle by technician in pentagon.
So our system is to enable staff or student reserve a computer lab online. This system have
two side(2 actor in use case diagram) administrator which handle the applicant status and
applicant (UPSI student and staff).
The system can be access in UPSI portal for student and staff. Inside the system, they can
browse the computer lab timetable to check whether it is already occupied or not, they also can
apply and check their application status. When the applicant want to apply the system will
generate a new form for the applicant to fill in the details. This system is linked with the
academic timetable, this will ease the management for lecturers to manage a booking for a
computer lab.
This system also have the complaint part, to enable student or staff make a report about a
damage complaint. So the main purpose of the system is to enable make a reservation online and
more efficient.
