Applications are invited for the following posts on the prescribed application form so as to reach
this office latest by 03.05.2010. The application form may be obtained either personally from the Cashier,
Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar on payment of Rs. 150/-, at the Counter OR by post from the
Assistant Registrar (General) by making a written request accompanied by a self addressed stamped (worth
Rs. 10/- ) envelope of 23x10 cms. along with a Demand Draft for Rs. 150/-, drawn in favour of the
‘REGISTRAR, GURU NANAK DEV UNIVERSITY’ payable at Amritsar.
Application form may also be downloaded from the University Website: http://www.gndu.ac.in.
In case of downloaded form, total fee will be Rs. 200/- (non-refundable).
For the posts of Lecturers/Assistant Librarians the selection shall be made on the basis of the
criteria (Score Card) approved by the University, a copy of which can be had along with the
application form or downloaded from the University Website: http://www.gndu.ac.in.

2. Persons already in service must send their applications through their employer. All those
candidates working in organizations/institutions including affiliated colleges of the university
may be allowed to appear in interview without No Objection Certificate with the condition
that in case the candidate is selected, no extension in joining time will be allowed. Such
candidates are required to give an undertaking on the format available on university website:
www.gndu.ac.in. All such candidates will be given standard joining time i.e. one month from
the issuance of appointment letter.
3. The candidates are required to apply separately for each post earmarked for each Deptt. / Station.
4. Incomplete applications in any respect or without the prescribed fee or received after the due
date will not be entertained.
5. The qualifications for all the teaching posts are as per UGC norms.
6. University reserves the right to fill or not to fill up the posts and to call only suitable candidates for
interview.
7. Practical/Written Test will be held wherever necessary.
8. The number of posts can be increased or decreased before the interview.
9. Candidates within India may not be considered in absentia. Higher start in the grade may be given
depending upon qualifications and experience of the candidates.
10. C.V. of any candidate can be placed before the Selection Committee at the time of Interview.
11. IMPORTANT: Applicants for the posts of Lecturers/Assistant Librarians must attach the
Score Card Proforma (duly filled by them) and attested copies of supporting documents i.e.
DMCs and Degrees of all the educational qualifications, extra curricular activities, Reprints
of publications, Teaching/Post Doctoral Experience etc., with their applications; failing which
no marks will be given for that document.

Circular containing detailed instructions, qualifications, etc. relating to Advt. No. 1/2010
General Qualifications:
I. Professor(s) (Pay Scale : Rs. 37400-67000+10000 AGP)
Qualifications:
An eminent scholar with published work of high quality actively engaged in research with 10 years
of experience in post-graduate teaching, and/or experience in research at the University/ National
level institutions, including experience of guiding research at doctoral level.
OR
An outstanding scholar with established reputation who has made significant contribution to
knowledge.
Note:
(a) Candidates are also required to submit their five sets of Bio-data and five sets of
reprints of three major publications of which one could be a book or research report
along with the application for evaluation purpose.
(b) Relaxation of 5% (from 55% to 50%) of marks at Master’s level and 5% relaxation at
graduate level under the term of "Good academic record" at par with SC/ST candidates to
the physically and visually handicapped persons.

II. Principal(s) (Pay Scale : Rs. 37400-67000+10000 AGP)


Qualifications:
1. A Master's Degree with at least 55% of the marks or its equivalent grade of B in
the 7 point scale with latter grades O,A,B,C,D,E & F.
2. Ph.D. or equivalent qualifications.
3. Total experience of 15 years of teaching/Research in Universities/Colleges and
other institutions of higher education.
Note:-
Relaxation of 5% (from 55% to 50%) of marks at Master’s level and 5% relaxation at
graduate level under the term of "Good academic record" at par with SC/ST candidates to
the physically and visually handicapped persons.

III. Reader(s) (Pay Scale : Rs.15600-39100+8000 AGP)


Qualifications:
Good academic record with a doctoral degree or equivalent published work. In addition to these,
candidates who join from outside the University system, shall also possess at least 55% of the
marks or an equivalent grade of B in the 7 point scale with letter grade O, A, B, C, D, E and F at the
Master’s degree level. Five years of experience of teaching and /or research excluding the period
spent for obtaining the research degrees and has made some mark in the areas of scholarship as
evidenced by quality of publications, contribution to educational innovation, design of new courses
and curricula.
Note:
(a) Candidates are also required to submit their five sets of Bio-data and five sets of

IV. Lecturers (Pay Scale : Rs.15600-39100+6000 AGP):
Qualifications (as per UGC norms):
Good academic record with atleast 55% of the marks or an equivalent grade of B in the 7
point scale with letter grade O, A, B, C, D, E & F at the Master’s degree level, in the relevant
subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from a foreign University.
Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, candidates should have cleared the eligibility
test (NET) for lecturers conducted by the UGC/CSIR or a similar test accredited by the UGC*.
"NET/SLET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and
appointment of Lecturers in University/Colleges/Institutions.
Provided, however, that candidate, who are or have been awarded Ph.D. Degree in
compliance of the "University Grants Commission (minimum standards and procedure for award of
Ph.D. Degree), Regulation 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum
eligibility condition of NET/SLET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or
equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions."
* In the subject/faculties for which UGC/State Govt. is not holding any eligibility test for
recruitment of Lecturers, the condition of passing such test shall not apply. Good academic record
means atleast 2nd class with 50% marks in graduation level).
Note: -
(a) Relaxation of 5% (from 55% to 50%) of marks at Master’s level to the physically and
visually handicapped persons and SC/ST category in appointments as Lecturer.
(b) 5% relaxation at graduate level under the term of "Good academic record" at par with

14. Land Scape Officer – 1

Qualifications:
(1) M.Sc. Land Scaping & Floriculture with 55% marks
or
M.Sc. Horticulture (with specialization in Land Scaping/Floriculture) with
55% marks
or
M.Sc. Agriculture with 55% marks.
(2) Two years experience in Land Scaping/Floriculture.
(3) Punjabi upto Matric level is compulsory.

15. Assistant Director (Field), Deptt. of Physical Education (AT) – 1


(Pay Scale : 10300-34800+5000 GP)
Qualifications:
1. Master's in Physical Education with at least 55% marks.
2. First position at inter-university sports competitions.
OR
First or second position in national level sports competitions.
3. Punjabi upto Matric level is compulsory.
Note: Preference may be given to the candidates having proficiency in more than
one sport.

16. Assistant Director (Woman), Deptt. of Physical Education(AT)– 1


(Pay: Rs. 20000/- p.m. fixed) (on contractual basis initially for 3 years)
Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in Physical Education (two years course) with at least 55% of the marks
or its equivalent grade of B in the UGC 7 points scale plus a consistently good academic
record.
2 Record of having represented the university/college at the Inter-University or the State in
National Championships.
3 Passed the physical fitness test.
4. Qualifying in the national test conducted for the purpose by the UGC or any other agency
approved by the UGC.
