 Making Your Election Sure
• 2Peter 1:10 “ Wherefore the rather, brethren,
give diligence to make your calling and
election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall
never fall:
• Assembly or Church has reference to a group
of “called out ones” (ecclesia)
• Calling has reference to origin, nature and
destiny of a heavenly invitation (klesis)
 Making Your Election Sure
• Election refers to a “picking out”, a selection,
used in Acts 9.15 of Saul of Tarsus as being the
choice of God. It is used 3 times in Romans 9
where the reference to the verse “ Jacob have I
loved and Esau have I hated” is well known.
• This group is designated by the fact that while the
finished work of Jesus Christ is sufficient, in the
case of the elect they are also responsible for and
capable of, having the will and power to “choose”.

• There is no understanding the ways of God,
and according to Romans 9.20, “ Shall the
thing formed say to him that formed it, Why
hast thou made me thus?”
• My point in all this is that if you are here this
morning and have had more than one
opportunity to embrace the life of Jesus Christ
it puts you in a category of responsibility and
capability of choosing “the right”.

• You must realize that there are people who
will receive one call from God, and those
whom God will not chase, and those whom
God has actually chosen against all odds and
against what nature mandates. This is the case
with Jacob and Esau, a prophetic type of the
election of God, the elder shall serve the
younger before the children were born.

• Some have said that “ that is not fair” or that
doesn’t seem right, however God is sovereign
and his overriding characteristic is that He is
Just.
• I would say that the majority of you in this
assembly fall into the “elect” status, which
brings great joy to me as one who has had the
favor of God in my life.
 Making Your Election Sure
• The responsibility is my part, the capability is
God’s part. I wouldn’t choose me, but He has
chosen me and then as I begin to choose and
make willful decisions God’s divine impartation
joins with my will in overcoming.
• If I will begin to choose or will what is of God
then I exercise my love for God and His will and
His ways. God wants us to choose Him.
• The etymology of the word “choose” is latin and
it refers to “tasting”
 Making Your Election Sure
• You have a mission and a destiny founded in
the establishing of the “church”. We must not
be high minded nor forget the natural
branches and their calling and election.
• God is not finished with us yet, it is said that “
it is better to experience failure and failing
that to succeed in the wrong thing. I don’
want to miss the glory of God.

• I want to spend some time in some areas of
choosing that I feel are crucial to this
generation.
• “O taste and see that I am good”
• “ For it is impossible for those who have
“tasted” of the power of God and who have
been enlightened to renew themselves again
unto repentance, they must move into new
conquest and territory for God.

Baal, then follow him. And the people
