WELDER CLASSFICATION CRITERIA

CLASSIFICATION CRITERIA

- Have basic knowledge of the nature and utility of weld joint, the method to adjust the length of arc; Have the
ability to calculate and adjust the weld electric current and arrange the weld layers, weld seams.
- Have understanding of the operation principle of conventional arc welder on site.
- Have clear understanding of safety measures in welding, in using and operating weld equipment.
- Have understanding of regulations in work hygiene and industrial working manner.

- Be proficient in electric welding SMAW 1F, 1G

- Make sure the weld seams are straight, the requirements in length and width are fulfilled, the roots of weld are
not burnt, the weld joints are fitted (mi hn ngu). The start and the end of the weld are flawless. There is no
error such as crack, kt x, etc.
- Meet the standard in joining welding electrodes, the weld joint is good looking. (Visual Test)

NOTE

- Have proficiency in adjusting the 2G weld electric current according to the diameter of the welding electrodes.
- Have proficiency in adjusting the angle of welding electrodes and welding posture.
- Have knowledge of the reactive deformations (ng xut bin dng) occurred during the weld process, their
cause and ways to fix.
- Have the ability to
identify the risk of unsafe incidents in 2G welding and come up with prevention measures.
- The weld seams are evennd straight at the 2 roots. The roots of weld are not burnt.
- The requirements in weld joint width and height are fulfilled.
- The weld joints are fitted, no or insignificant flaws within the permitted range.
- The seams between weld joints are slim and straight. (Visual Test)

- Have proficiency in selecting welding modes, adjusting types of SMAW weld electric currents according to
each weld layer. The weld beads conform with the material thickness and weld joint type.
- Have the ability to fix minor malfunctions of welding machines on site.
- Have the ability to identify each type of welding electrodes according to ASME standard and utility scope.
- Have profiency to divide the final weld bead coating to create good looking habitus weld joints compatible with
the requirements of the connection.
- Have the
ability to demonstrate the weld quality checking methods.
- The weld beads are fitted; there is no blisters; khng ngm x
- The surface of weld joint is flat, solders are good looking.
- The weld roots are not burnt
- The sizes of the weld joints fulfill the requirements.
- When X-ray screened, the weld joints fulfill AWS D1.1 Standard.
- The requirements are similar to 3G but the skills required are higher because overhead weld is involved.
Therefore, welders should be proficient in adjusting weld electrict current, arc welding and types of welding
electrode oscillation.
- The risk of unsafe
incidents in 4G welding and prevention measures.
- The factors affecting the quality of weld joints and corrective measures.

- The weld joints are consistent and flawless.

- The weld layers are even; the weld joints fulfill all requirements in sizes and appearance.
- When X-ray screened, the weld joints fulfill AWS D1.1 Standard.

- Have clear understanding of the nature and characteristics of TIG welding methods.
- Have proficiency in utilizing and adjusting the weld electric current of a number of conventional TIG welding
machines on site.
- Have clear understanding of the principle and composition of welding machines and parts such as: TIG torch
nozzle, argon gas meter.
- Have proficiency in adjusting the volume of Argon has.
- Know how to prepare scalp before welding
- Have clear understanding of regulations in industrial hygiene and in using industrial gas bottle.

+ For 5G Carbon steel pipe 6" welder.

- The TIG padding inside the weld is consistent, flawless; the welding electrodes are joint up to standard.
- For the intermediary and coating layer: The surface of the weld is even, no flaws such as burnt roots, faulty
welding electrode joint.
- The weld seams are arranged appropriately; The solders are good looking.
- When X-ray screened, the weld joints meet the ASME IX standard.
+ For 5G Carbon steel pipe 2 welder
- The inner padding is input evenly with no flaw.
- The weld joints have good looking appearance.
- When X-ray screened, the weld joints meet the ASME IX standard.
+ Weld Carbon steel pipe 2, 6

The requirements are similar to 5G welder but the skills required are at a higher level, consisting of knowledge in
welding from 1G to 5G.
- Because the welding posture is more difficult, welder must be proficient in techniques in welding, methods of
adjusting welding angles.
- Have the ability to fix minor errors in parts of welding machines on site.
- Have the ability to identify types of TIG electrodes, welding electrodes and their usage.
- The TIG padding is input evenly, no burnt roots, no flaws.
- For the coating layer: even surface: slim weld seams, appropriately arranged layers of weld seams, no flaw
(within the permitted range).
- When X-ray screened, the weld joints meet the ASME IX standard.
Weld 6G - 6'' low alloy steel pipe
Weld 6G - 2'', 6'' stainless steel pipe
- Know how to gas infuse weld joints (xng kh mi hn); have clear understanding of drying and keeping
welding electrodes ( que hn)
- Know how to arrange weld joints appropriately to conform with the requirement of the connection.
- When X-ray screened, the weld meet the ASME IX standard.

- Because stainless steel is difficult to weld, welder must be skillful, dedicate and persistent. The welder must
fulfill all requirements of 6G welder with high level of proficiency.
- The product must meet the ASME IX standard when put through visual test and X-ray screened.
