CHECKLIST
By: Kirstin Allison Naig
Definition:
Checklist is one of the tools that state specific criteria and allow teachers and
students to gather information and to make judgments about what students know
and can do in relation to the outcomes. It offers systematic ways of collecting data
about specific behaviors, knowledge and skills.
Purpose:
provide samples of criteria for students prior to collecting and evaluating data
on their work
record the development of specific skills, strategies, attitudes and behaviors
necessary for demonstrating learning
Use simple formats that can be understood by students and that will
communicate information about student learning to parents.
Ensure that the characteristics and descriptors listed are clear, specific and
observable.
Use generic templates that become familiar to students and to which various
descriptors can be added quickly, depending on the outcome(s) being
assessed.

Provide guidance to students to use and create their own checklists, for selfassessment purposes and as guidelines for goal setting.
After
Thoughts
While making my report about Checklist, I was so excited in
delivering it to the class though it may not that sound so interesting and
exciting to the others but for me, I got interested because in my school
days in elementary and in high school, these things were just one of my
requirement that were needed for compliance and now, its kind a different
because I am now discussing about it.
Base on what I have understood in my report, educational checklists
deserve to be given a serious attention and importance for it gives

guidance not just the students but also the teachers for monitoring facilities,
performances, behaviors, anything that are needed to be improved or
observed in school. It gives a general report of the things that are assigned
to be observed and monitored.
