5 ELECTROSTATIC FILTERS
2.5.1 Principle of Operation
The principle of operation shall be based on negative electrical charge (ionization) to a particle.
The particle shall then be passed through the compact arranged anode tubes among a cylindrical
honeycomb structure filter cell(s). The tube diameter is 52mm. Tube quantity in a filter cell is from
88 to 110. Anode tube is well earthed.
ESP technologies are used for the purpose of removing particulate matters from gas streams by
applying an electrostatic charge to the fume & mist particulate with electrons emitted from the
cathode section of the high voltage filter cell, and negative ions produced as a result of co-mingling
and collision of electrons and air molecules.
Following the negative electrostatic field created by the power supply, the negatively charged
particulates would be attracted to the positively charged anode section and get captured, while the
purified exhaust gas comes out clean.
Given the tiny size of the electrons (which is several orders of magnitude smaller than that of the
fume & mist particulates) and the high density of electrons discharged (1108/cm3), ionization of
fume & mist particulates entrained in the gas would be practically inescapable.
Rather than simply due to the occasional collision, fume & grease particulates in the electric field
are bound to be charged according to the rules of basic charging mechanisms. Theoretically
speaking, it includes the electric field charging and diffusion charging.
In electric field charging, the electric line change to intersects with the surface of the fume
particulate because the relative dielectric constant of fume particulate is over 1. Negative gas ions
that move along the electric line will definitely collide with the fume particulate and impart the
charge to the fume particulate.
While in diffusion charging, negative gas ions moves around randomly in the air because of the
thermal motion, when negative gas ions come closer to the particulates, electric images force
comes into play, the fume particulates get attracted to the ions and get charged.
Fume particulates entering the filter cell can get charged enough within tenths of seconds.
Negatively charged particulates (especially for those fume & mist particulates with smaller diameter
and light weight) are bound to be attracted to the positively charged anode section and get
captured, thus achieving an extremely high air cleaning efficiency.
2.5.4 Finish
The external casing finish shall be a durable industrial grade semi gloss baked- on epoxy ester,
2.5.5 Efficiency
The operating efficiency when clean shall be 95 - 98% at particle sites down to 0.01 micron.

The honey comb structure ensures the average electrostatic strength in every corner of the
cathode tube is the same and collect same quantity of grease in the whole tube. We have at least
88 tubes in a piece of filter cell, and in large air capacity unit has more filter cell as above listed.
The white and red insulator has long creep distance with corrugation structure. Self glazing
ceramic material ensures the best performance on separating the high-voltage power.
Remote on/off switch is allowable. Indicator lights are showing fault, normal or cleaning
requirements. Auto cut-off when door is opened.
Fan linkage start-up function is available for users option with the same appliances.
