They Did The Crime. They Deserve This Punishment

I.

History of Issue and Key Areas of Discussioni

Death penalty is not a new issue, since eighteenth Century B.C. in the Code of King
Hammaurabi of Babylon, which codified the death penalty for 25 different crimes. The death
penalty was also part of the Fourteenth Century B.C.'s Hittite Code; in the Seventh Century
B.C.'s Draconian Code of Athens, which made death the only punishment for all crimes; and
in the Fifth Century B.C.'s Roman Law of the Twelve Tablets. Death sentences were carried
out by such means as crucifixion, drowning, beating to death, burning alive, and impalement.
From the ancient punishment, nowadays government adopt it and apply it to their country
rules and overtime capital punishment has become more human going from beheadings,
hanging crime, lethal injection. As Iran that also adopting that kind of punishment such like
qhesas, shoot alive, even cut the crime head and stoning. The issue with the death penalty is
that some people think it is inhumane or immoral, even unconstitutional, while others think
the exact opposite and believe that it is necessary for a well established governmental system.
However the execution may be processed, and the point is that they still take place in
civilization today.

Current Position
Iran acknowledge this case as an old issues, since the ancient time Iran already did this kind
of punishment and until today theyre still allow this punishment. The government of Iran
itself still supporting this kind of punishment, because they believe this punishment is more
effective and bring more beneficial effect by deterring the crime. Even though almost all of
the NGOs in Iran now against the death penalty punishment in the name of human right
violation, but the amount of people executed by the government is extremely raise since 2009
to 2012, in 2009 only 69 people executed while 2012 four times bigger which is 419 people
has been executed and at least 801 people executed in 2014. Iran will give death penalty as a
punishment to the crime in special cases for example: if you killed someone theyll punish
you with two options of punishment either theyll shoot you in public or theyll hang you in
the public (like eye for an eye), another one if you stole something from someone theyll cut
your hand (Qhesas). Almost all of Iranian supporting death penalty/capital punishment,
because we can see from the amount of NGOs member which is a minority and even though
there are several groups trying to against it and the government still do it without people
protest/big demonstration. According to Amnesty International, 57 countries including Iran
itself still do this capital punishment such as Saudi Arabia, North Korea, Somalia, etc.

Potential Solution and Goals

1. Keep Death Penalty as Punishment. Government would not punish their people without do
a fair court, if the court final result is to punish the crime with death penalty it means its the
best and the greatest punishment. Death penalty is proven eradicate the amount of crimes, by
keeping this kind of punishment it will bring more beneficial effect for the government. So
from this reason we should still keep and applied death penalty/capital punishment as a law.
2. Giving Physically and Mentally Punishment for The Crimes. Prof. Dr. J. Danielle Van
Houtten, from Utrecht University Netherland said: Fear and anxiety is the most effective
way to punish someone. Death penalty give both of that to the crime, and the crime deserve
this. By serve this two things you will get two beneficial not just punishing the crime but also
preventing someone else to do the same crime.
Death penalty would be a great solution from the government to give the most effective
punishment for the crime.
3. Creating Limitation of Death Penalty In International Rules. We should make
international rules limitation about death penalty, so make sure government will not use it in a
wrong way. We need to have international parameter about why the crime deserve this
punishment.
