3.5 BBL (4.0 Hl) Brew House
The Portland Kettle Works Hopmaster series is a line of professional grade Nano brewery system
superior to any other Nano on the market. Our uncompromising attitude of quality and intuitive
design is apparent form the initial installation. The system is engineered with the goal of a hassle
free brewing experience. To begin you will not find any mild steel in our brewhouse, the kettles
and brew deck are fabricated form 100% certified 304L food grade stainless steel. All
mechanical components provide infinite control to the brewer and allow precise repetition in an
efficient and time saving brewing process. In contrast to some competitive Nano brew houses
where valves and electronics are of inferior quality or are simply home brew systems scaled to
larger batch sizes, with no apparent devotion to the process of craft brewing, the components of
your PKW brewhouse are 100% professional grade, exactly like those found on much larger
systems costing several times the price. We have approached every aspect of the design from
the professional brewers perspective taking the majority of engineering considerations from our
larger systems. Our goal is a pleasurable and safe brew day, everyday.
General Specification: Brewhouse yields approximately 3.5 bbls (4.0 Hl) of beer after boil.
Standard 3 vessel brew house features include:

A center mounted non-skid brewers platform designed to provide ample access to both
the kettle and mash for seamless brewing operation and ease of monitoring

Hot liquor tank with integrated HERMS coil Assembly allows for micro adjustment
temperature control of mash process

Mash Tun: 167 Gallon (632 L) Capacity, High-Performance Trapezoidal V- Wire False
Bottom, Side mounted manway designed for efficient labor saving grain out operations,
integrated site gauge, Sparge Assembly and Vorlauf Port. Concial bottom vessel with ultimate
drain allows for collection of all wort except that absorbed within the grain bed.

Boil Kettle: 153 Gallon (580 L) Capacity. Equipped with an integrated site gauge,
whirlpool port and removable Trub Retainer assembly, which produces a neat tight trub cone
formation and allows for high yield with minimal wort loss. Once this cone is formed the conical
bottom with 2 ultimate drain allows for ease of trub removal. Simply spray all materials down the
port for collection at the front of the skid.

Heat Exchangers 3A FDA compliant tie bolt sectional heat exchanger is designed for
long lasting performance and 30-minute knock out of 212-degree (100 C) wort to 70 degrees (21
C) with 60 degree (15 C) cooling water. We also offer a line of two-stage heat exchangers where
cooling water temperatures exceed 70 degrees F (21 C).

Brewers Control Panel conveniently mounted within reach of the brew house manifold
so that the brew crew and take advantage of the best ergonomic positioning while brewing

A small brewhouse manifold and sanitary piping is standard in the design and reduces
the use of cumbersome brewers hose during the brewing process

3-Prong standard power cord allows brew house to be plugged directly into standard
120V power source.

All systems are Pre-wired, pre-piped and pre-tested for easy shipping, rigging installation
and startup

With safety in mind, the three integrated gas burners (specify NG or Propane) are fired
by a direct spark ignition system tied to electronic solenoid valves, which shut down gas flow
automatically if no flame is detected at the burner. There are no open flame pilot lights in the
system.

*Note that this system is designed to be used in conjunction with customer supplied a
180 degree hot water source supplied at a rate of 5-7gpm. Hot Liquor Tanks are available from
PKW.
