Overview
This chapter describes characteristics, models, and naming conventions of the ISCOM21xx,
including the following sections:
Introduction
Characteristics
Features
Ordering information
1.1 Introduction
The carrier-grade Metropolitan Access Network (MAN) Ethernet access switch ISCOM21xx
(hereinafter referred to as the ISCOM21xx) is a network-manageable Ethernet access switch
developed by Raisecom. By adopting a high-performance Application Specific Integrated
Circuit (ASIC) chip, the ISCOM21xx can implement full-rate switching. It supports flexible
bandwidth allocation and QoS features, and is of rich interfaces and telecom-grade stability
and reliability.
Oriented for telecom-grade corridor access, suitable for campus, enterprise, and community
networks, the ISCOM21xx can aggregate services from corridors of buildings with broadband
and from a small network.
The ISCOM21xx Power over Ethernet (PoE) models, complying with IEEE 802.3af and
IEEE 802.3at standards, support supplying power to the remote Powered Device (PD). It is
compatible with non-standard PD. The PoE switch can be used to transmit services or data
from the high-power wireless Access Point (AP), monitoring camera, IC reader, and IP phone.
1.2 Characteristics
1.2.1 Reliable carrier-grade design
The ISCOM21xx provides the following carrier-grade design:
Raisecom
ISCOM21xx Product Description
1 Overview
Automatically detect and control broadcast storm, detect IGMP packets, thus effectively
controlling flooding of broadcast packets.
Support flow control in both half duplex and full duplex modes.
Interface trust mode, including trusting Class of Service (CoS) priority and trusting
Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) priority
Interface-based priority mapping, including mapping from CoS to the queue and
mapping from DSCP to the queue
Traffic statistics
Support multiple access control and user authentication technologies, such as Access
Control List (ACL), Remote Authentication Dial In User Service (RADIUS), Terminal
Access Controller Access Control System (TACACS+), thus effectively enhancing
security of the network and the ISCOM21xx.
Provide interface isolation within a VLAN, which guarantees data security and saves
VLAN resources.
Provide unique loopback detection, which guarantees security of user data and saves
VLAN resources.
Provide interface-based traffic statistics and statistics result for analyzing user traffic.

ISCOM21xx Product Description
1 Overview
Provide the NView Network Node Management (NNM) system with rich performance
monitoring, Trap, and fast fault location.
Support IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at standards. The maximum output power per
interface increases from 15.4 W to 30 W, thus able to support high-power devices, such
as the IEEE 802.11n wireless Access Point (AP), and PTZ high-end camera.
Provide strong compatibility to PDs. It supports IEEE standard PDs, pre-standard PDs,
and Cisco private protocol PDs, so it can utilize existing PDs thoroughly.

Device installation
This chapter describes how to install the ISCOM21xx, including the following sections:
Installing hardware
Installing software
Open rack

Grounding conditions
The ISCOM21xx should adopt joint grounding mode, and the grounding resistance should be
below 1 . Well grounding is the first guarantee to lightning protection and anti-interference.

ISCOM21xx Product Description
4 Device installation
The installation mode for the ISCOM21xx is identical. The following installation takes
the ISCOM2118EA-MA with hybrid power input for example.
Step 3 Install floating nuts on the rack, as shown in Figure 4-2. The distance between two floating
nuts should be the same with that between two brackets.
Figure 4-2 Installing floating nuts
Step 4 Use screws to install guide rails horizontally on the rack, as shown in Figure 4-3.

Connecting fiber
There is invisible laser inside the ISCOM21xx and it harms eyes. Do not directly stare
into the optical interface, fiber connector, or breakage of fiber.
Connect fiber as below:
Step 1 Remove the dustproof cover from the SFP optical interface and SFP optical module, and
insert the SFP optical module into the optical interface on the ISCOM21xx, as shown in
Figure 4-11.
Figure 4-11 Inserting SFP optical module
Step 2 Remove the dustproof cover from the LC/PC fiber, align the fiber with the SFP optical
interface, and insert the fiber slightly into the SFP optical interface, as shown in Figure 4-12
Figure 4-12 Connecting fiber

Technical specifications
The Ethernet cables have two types:
Straight-through cable: used to connect devices of different types, such as PC and switch,
switch and router.
Crossover cable: used to connect devices of the same type, such as between a PC and
another PC, between a switch and another switch, between a router and another router,
between a PC and a router (they are divided into the same group)

The wiring for 100 Mbit/s crossover cable is different from that of 1000 Mbit/s crossover
cable.
One RJ45 connector of the 100 Mbit/s crossover cable follows EIA/TIA568A standard wiring;
the other RJ45 connector follows EIA/TIA568B standard wiring.
Figure 6-12 shows the wiring of the 100 Mbit/s crossover cable.
