THE AERODYNAMICS
Once rnore this year, Citroen wanted to
improve the air penetration-coefficient (Cx) of
the OS, already exceptional for a massproduction car. The door handles are now
flush fitting.
COMFORT
All the OS's starting f ron1 the 'O' Super
now have two reversing lights. The glove
compartrnent, the heating control, the
cigarette lighter, the ashtray and the antitheft lock are equipped 'Nith a lighting unit.
PADDED STEERING WHEEL
The alreadv farnous safety original, the single
spoke steering wheel is now covered with a
foan1 rubber padding for n1ore driving
pleasure.
HORSEPOWER
Various in1provements have uprated the
'D' Special to89 bhp DIN <a 5500 rpm; 98 bhp

Engine: 5 bearing crankshaft, crossflow cylinder head, valve incli nation of 60 in V formation, sidemounted camshaft
chain driven, removable wet liners, oil filter and by-pass relief valve. Ory element air filter, lubrication by gear driven
oil pump; mechanical fuel pump, cooling system with pump and thermostat. Clutch: Single dry plate. Gearbox: 4 speed
all synchromesh, plus reverse. Transmission: Front wheel drive, with constant velocity driveshaft joints. Brakes: Main
brakes high pressure hydraulic servo controlled, automatic compensation for rear load variation. Twin independent
circuits, front disc, rear drum brakes. Auxiliary brake mechanically operated on separate front disc calipers. Steering:
Rack and pinion. Chassis: Steel platform with large box section welded side members. Suspension: Independent on
all 4 wheels each with hydropneumatic suspension sphere and integral shock absorber. Anti-roll bars front and rear,
automatic height control front and rear for constant ground clearance irrespective of load. Electrics: Battery-12 V
40A/h, alternator 12 V 520 Watts, European code headlamps-twin system. Capacities: Fuel tank 14 gallons, Sump 9
pints, Gearbox 3.5 pints. Dashboard: With crash padding, cigar lighter, two position interior mirror, speedometer with
combined braking distance chart, tachometer, central indicator dial with all control warning lights (with non-reflective
g lass), electric screenwasher and combined two-speed wipers, Tyre wear line. Options: -15C heating - adjustable
headrest (front passenger seat) - Height adjuster for front seats - central removable front armrest- Radio- laminated
windscreen - Heated rear window. Tinted glass windscreen, tinted glass all round .
5 speed gearbox: a new 5 speed manual gearbox is now available as an option on the D Super and OS 21 models.
This new gearbox gives greater flexibility and acceleration and more economical high-speed cruising.

Superb finish and equipment. Stainless steel door tread plates, thick
carpeting and full interior padding with driver's seat adjustable for height,

steering and heated rear window standard.
