Course Description (keywords)

Definition of engineering, definition of electrical and electronics engineering
(EEE), EEE as a career, profession, licensure and entrepreneurship,
specializations in electrical and computer engineering, introduction to electrical
concepts and components, active components and integrated circuits,
engineering tools for EEE, engineering problem solving, engineering design,
academic survival skills

Contribution to the Professional Component of EE

This course do not directly contributes to the engineering sciences component of
the curriculum. Students learn fundamental electrical and electronics engineering
concepts as an introduction to the second year classes.

Prerequesties
There are no required classes as a background: Concepts are introduced.

Computer usage
For solving problems in homework, tests and exams, MATLAB is encouraged to be
used. Implementing the analytical model into the real work flow with use of
programming is helpful for understanding behaviour of the systems. Therefore,

very small programming routines will be performed during the class. But, no
previous programming knowledge is required.

Notes on homeworks
Homeworks do not need any technical skill before taking this class.
You should think and write your homeworks by YOURSELF! This is MANDATORY!
Homeworks should be your original works!

How to listen the classes

Classes contains presentations with too much script. Hence;
Listen the narrator

Follow the figures

Follow the equations (where do they come from)

Do not follow the script!

The first three chapter includes recovering the past knowledge. Hence the
material is too bulky. Please avoid asking unnecessary questions and keep
attention during classes. Homeworks have special importance for these classes.
The chapters including dc motor, ac motor and transformers are mostly contains
interactive classes.
