Capstone I & II

Instructions & Evaluation Norms


Dear students,
As a part of your post graduate study, you need to carry out two
different independent academic piece of work (projects) in remaining
terms i.e. term V and VI. Both the projects are independent of each
other. Detailed instructions related with the same are given below:

Capstone I (Academic): (To be undertaken during


Term V)

1. Student is expected to prepare a monograph / research paper /


term paper / an essay of not less than 15000 words in the area of
their specialization.
2. This project is purely an academic work based on secondary
information and published research work done in the area of the
chosen topic.
3. This research paper should contain a logical flow; an argument;
original idea supplemented with literature review and proper
referencing. This is a 3 credit course and the marks will be
allotted as per the following criteria.

4. Academic honesty is expected. Directly copying without
referencing and your own input / write up would be taken very
seriously. Harvard style of referencing to be used in this work.
This may lead to very serious consequences. Hence, your ability
to write is of utmost importance.
5. The topic should be selected in consultation with the faculty
member allocated to you. Mutually you both can decide on the
tone / scope and coverage of the entire paper. The paper may be
considered for publication outside or also as a working paper
series on SKIPS website.
6. Important dates for capstone 1 are as below:

Capstone II (Company / Industry) : (To be undertaken


during Term VI)

1. Student is expected to prepare a case study / current practices


study of any company / industry focused on the area of their
specialization. However, the area should be narrowed down
considering the type of organization and objectives to be
achieved. Please take note that you need to carry out original
research. This is purely based on observation, published work
and interviews with the officials of the concerned company.
2. This project should be in the range of 10000 - 15000 words.
3. The case study of the company should have analytical view with
focus on various initiatives and strategies adopted by the
company. You may also like to incorporate the results achieved
by the company.

4. This case should contain a logical flow; an argument; original
idea supplemented with proper referencing. This is a 3 credit
course and the marks will be allotted as per the following criteria.
