Formulacin original
En el primer libro del movimiento scout, titulado Escultismo para muchachos y publicado en 1908,
Robert Baden-Powell, el fundador de dicho movimiento, presenta el primer texto de la Promesa
scout.1
La formulacin original contenida en dicho libro es:
Antes de ser scout, el joven debe formular su promesa scout, as:
Por mi honor prometo --Hacer cuanto de m dependa para cumplir mis deberes con Dios y la patria.
Ayudar a los otros, sin importar el sacrificio propio.
Conocer la Ley Scout y obedecerla.
Mientras formula su promesa scout el joven de pie, levanta su mano derecha hasta la altura del
hombro, con la palma hacia el frente, los tres dedos centrales extendidos y el pulgar sobre el dedo
meique:--- Este es el saludo del scout y su sea secreta.
Variaciones posteriores
Posteriormente, a lo largo de los ms de 100 aos de vida del Movimiento Scout el texto de dicho
compromiso fue variando adaptndose a los tiempos y a la cultura de cada pas.
Por mi honor y por la gracia de Dios prometo servir a Dios patria y hogar, ayudar al prjimo en toda
circunstancia y cumplir fielmente la Ley scout.
Yo (nombre del promesante) por mi honor prometo hacer todo lo que de mi dependa para cumplir
mis deberes con Dios , mi patria y mis padres , ayudar a los dems en toda circunstancia , y vivir la

Pero, como aclaramos, no en todos los Grupos Scouts la Promesa se formula de igual forma o a
partir de un texto nico. Actualmente, en algunos, se le da la posibilidad al promesado de elaborar
su propia promesa o, en otros casos de agregar un compromiso personal luego del texto definido
por la asociacin scout. Adems cuando ya son mayores se les invita a renovarla desde una
madurez y comprensin mayor de dicho compromiso.
En general el texto de la Promesa Scout es comn, en muchas asociaciones, para todos los rangos
de edad a partir de los 11 aos (rama scout). Es tradicin que el texto de la Promesa sea diferente
para la Rama Lobatos y Lobeznas.
SPRING BREAK
Time of year
In the United States, spring break may begin from late February to late April, but many colleges are
prepared to spend a week in March. Some schools call it March Break (March Break) are when the
weekday of March, other schools called Spring recess. Many secondary institutions in the United
States matched the holiday festivities of the Passover and Easter. In New York most students take
holidays in April.
In Canada, many provinces begin in March when there is no school for students and elementary.
The exact day of the month varies from province to province; Ontario, Nova Scotia, British Columbia
festivities begin in the second or third week of March, while in Alberta they start the last week of
March. In some areas, the corresponding week is called Easter break (Easter holidays) or Easter
holidays (Easter holidays) are scheduled for the next week or the previous Easter, therefore they
often start in April.
In several Canadian universities, a similar festival called Reading Week is held after February or
early March designed to allow students to stay focused on their studies.
In Japan, the spring break starts with the end of the academic year in March and ends on April 1
with the beginning of the next academic year.
In Chile, many schools and universities made holidays to mid-September, coinciding with the
celebration of Independence Day. Being located in the southern hemisphere, spring begins around
the end of this week off so it acts similarly to the American spring break. Also specially Chileans at
the beginning of the academic year to welcome new students perform the aforementioned
"Mekonah party" where dancing, alcohol and even drug use in a single night is included.
In Colombia, spring break usually begin the first week of April, to coincide with the week of Easter.
History
Since the end of World War II until the 1980s, Fort Lauderdale, Florida was a major spring break
destination for America. The March 16, 2006, the New York Times reported that Fort Lauderdale's
reputation as a destination for Spring break for students began when the men's swim team
practices Colgate University were there in 1935.1 Fort Lauderdale became very popular after 1960
film Where the Boys Are.
Common practices
The notoriety of spring break include increased alcohol. Fort Lauderdale residents were very upset
at the damage caused by tourists, which made the local government declared that laws prohibiting
parties in 1985. At the same time, the minimum age for alcohol consumption was enacted in the
United States. In Florida the minimum drinking age is 21 years, which caused many vacationing
students would leave outside the United States to celebrate spring break. In 1989, the number of
university students who went to parties fell to 20,000, far from the 350,000 who went to Fort
Lauderdale four years anteriores.2
Followers of the festivities moved to a more permissive community of Daytona Beach area (about
200,000 students traveled there each spring for the holidays), but the city of Daytona took similar
measures. The crowd of half of the 90s and early 2000s had to find a place where students
continue with the party, a few students were not going but officials estimated that number. Panama
City Beach, Florida remains a popular destination for spring break because of its proximity to most
universities in the South. In Panama City is welcomed tourists each year that remains a major
economic factor for the city. South Padre Island is another popular spring break destination where
students attending the center-south and midwest of the country.
The main destinations outside the US include Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, San Felipe (Mexicali
beaches), Rosarito, Acapulco, Barbados, Mazatlan, Puerto Penasco, Puerto Vallarta, Jamaica and
Bahamas. Travel agencies do not cite what the minimum drinking age in places, but also the fact
that only the minimum age to consume (in Mexico is 18 years compared to 21 in their home
