They must know what the report is for
They must know what the programs are that are being recommended.
They must know the different features the programs have.

What is your persuasive or practical goal?

What, exactly, must your audience do as a result of your communication?
They must read the document.
They must choose the recommended program for work.

What is your goodwill goal?

What attitude (toward you / your organization / your topic) do you want your audience to adopt
as a result of your communication?
Mutual respect between the people who need the recommendation and myself.

Audience role?
Who are they? What do they do? What is their role within their organization?
They are coworkers that need help deciding what program to use for work.
They will be creating and designing parts for airplanes, rotorcraft, rockets and satellites at
Boeing.

Background?
What knowledge / experience / attitudes do they have that are relevant to your communication?
I have used the products before and I am fairly familiar with all of them.

Goals / Motivation?
What is your audience trying to accomplish? Why? Why will they pay attention to you?
They will value my opinion because they are looking for the best program to use for their
job. They want to find something that will help them and reduce time and effort when
creating a design or part.
