1. Introductory course: the place of surgery in medical practice; history of surgery; clasic
surgery, modern surgery, minimal invasive surgery, robotic and telemedicine. Asepsia
and antisepsia, surgical outfit, surgical scrub, surgical field; organization of a surgical
unit- 2 hours
2. Assessment of the surgical patient, comorbidities, operative risk, preoperative care,
postoperative care, elective and emergent surgery. Investigations in surgery. Surgical
complications. Malpractise - 2 hours
3. Haemorrhage: generalities, classifications, surgical aspects, hemostasis, blood
transfusion in surgery- 4 hours
4. Infections in surgery: inflammation; surgical infections, acute and chronic infections;
principles of treatment; antibiotherapy; nosocomial infection, hand infections - 6 hours
5. Trauma; blunt trauma, wounds- classification, treatment, politrauma - 5 hours
6. Benign and malignant tumours- surgical aspects, premalignant lesions, diagnostic and
treatment; multiple tumours; screening and post-operatice care of malignant tumour
patients - 2 hours
