HST-3000 Dual Call Bert


The following procedure outlines how to configure the HST-3000 utilizing the BRI service interface module
(SIM) to place calls over two B channels simultaneously for the purpose of conducting a bit error rate test.
Please read entire procedure BEFORE starting.
Menu selections are made either by using the keypad to select the option number OR by using the arrow keys
to scroll to the desired selection and pressing the OK key.

Press the ISDN soft key


Press the 1 key to select Call Control. 90% of the time
National is used. 5ESSMP (multipoint), 5ESSPP (point to
point), DMSF are all custom call control protocol settings.
Press the 2 key to select Dual Call, and then select Enable.
Press the 3 key to select U Loss Pad Ins, and then select 0dB.

Press the PHONE soft key


Press the 1 key to select Dual TEI, and then select Enable.
Press the 2 key to select TEI Mode 1, and then select Auto.
Press the 3 key to select Directory NO. 1, and then use
keypad to enter the seven digit phone number associated
with SPID 1.
Press the 4 key to select SPID 1, and then use the keypad to
enter the ID number, including suffix, of the first service
profile you want to emulate.
Press the 5 key to select TEI Mode 2, and then select Auto.

Press the 6 key to select Directory NO. 2, and then use


keypad to enter the seven digit phone number associated
with SPID 2.
Press the 7 key to select SPID 2, and then use the keypad to
enter the ID number, including suffix, of the second service
profile you want to emulate.
Press the 8 key to select the Self Call Prefix, and then use
keypad to enter the area code if 10 digit dialing is required
for local calls or if a centrex prefix is required.

Press the CALL soft key.


Press 1 key to select Bearer Capability, and then select Data.
NOTE: Although it will work for Voice calls in most cases,
the dual call feature is intended for simultaneous data calls.
This simulates what happens when a video terminal adapter
sets up a call on each B channel and combines the bandwidth
in order to transfer video information.
Press 2 key to select Bearer Rate, and then select either 56K
or 64K. NOTE: This option is only available when the
Bearer Capability is DATA.
Press 3 key to select Channel, and then select Any.
Press 4 key to select Dialing Method, and then select Overlap.
Continue to step 7. Number To Call field is populated only
when the Dialing Method is set to Enbloc.
Press 6 key to select Call Answer Mode, and then select
Prompt.
Press 7 key to select Call Appear ID, and then select 1.

Press the PATTERN soft key.


Press 1 key to select Pattern, and then select 2047.

Press the Action soft key, and then select Self-Call BERT.
HST-3000 will commence running a simultaneous BERT
between each B channel. NOTE: If cause failure 57
BEARCAP NOT AUTH appears, press the Configure
navigation button followed by pressing the Call settings
view. Change Bearer Capability to VOICE. Press Home.
Data LED indicates pattern sync between B1 and B2.
Press the Display soft key, and then select BERT.

Bit Errors should be 0 for Call 1 and Call 2.


Press the Action soft key, and then select Insert Bit Error
(Call 1).
Error LED should illuminate to indicate error detected.
Bit Errors should be 0 for Call 1 and 1 for Call 2.
Press the Action soft key, and then select Insert Bit Error
(Call 2).
Bit Errors should be 1 for Call 1 and Call 2.
Press the Restart soft key to reset counters and alarms.
Press the Display soft key, and then select Summary.
