Sir/Madam:
Greetings! I am writing to offer Special Training on Folkdance for Teachers on
November 21-22, 2015 at Caraga National High School, Caraga, Davao Oriental in line with
the thrust of the Department of Education (DepEd) to seek excellence, preservation and
promotion of culture and the arts for it is deemed necessary for teachers and administrators not
only to be aware on the significance of arts, but would somehow educate them on its impact and
implication to the development of our society.
The Davao City Dance Educators Guild Association, Incorporated (DCDEGA,Inc.) is
a group of artist-educators who, as the name suggests, have not only an interest in but a passion
for dancing.
It is on this regard that the DCDEGA, Inc. will continue to provide folkdance workshop
to teachers and administrators in the elementary and secondary levels. The group has just been
recently registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission with Company Registered
No. CN201536245.
It shall basically address the diminishing interest of the community, particularly in
schools where students prefer modern dances. It shall also deal on proper and appropriate moves
as it has been observed that although folkdance are practiced, proper moves, including costumes
are not observed.
Objective of this seminar- workshop are the following:

Address the needs and concerns of the teachers in folkdance education and folkdance
production;
Learn new unpublished folk and ethnic dances;
Consolidate the strength of the performing arts as an educational tool for human
development; and
Provide teachers resource materials on dance and choreography.

Participants to this training are administrators and teachers in all levels, dance trainers,
choreographers, and dance enthusiasts.
Workshop activities would include lectures, demonstration and discussions of the
different aspects of folkdance production including techniques, staging and performance
showcase of participants.
There will be a minimal workshop fee of Seven Hundred Fifty Pesos only (P 750.00)
to cover the cost of workshop training kit/materials like CDs, IDs, Certificates of

Appearance and Participation, t-shirt, including the meals, transportation and honoraria
of trainers and facilitators chargeable against school or any other local funds.
Organized by Amelia S. Lacerna, Education Program Supervisor of DepEd, Davao City
Division, the group had conducted series of folkdance workshops and had very well attended
workshops & performances in the last fifteen years. Recently, it had conducted folkdance
workshops in the Divisions of Davao City, Digos City and Del Sur, Mati City, Panabo City,
Tagum City, Compostela Valley and Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS).
