Connect the console to a mains power only of the type described in the Service
manual and marked on the rear panel. The power source must provide a good ground
connection.
Use the power cord with sealed mains plug appropriate for your local mains supply as
provided with the console. If the plug does not fit into your outlet consult the
audio plus technical support department for assistance. Route the power cord so that
It not likely to be walked on, stretched or pinched by items placed upon or against it.
Do not obstruct the ventilation slots or position the console where the air flow require
for ventilation is impeded. If the console is to be operated in a rack unit or flight case
ensure that it is constructed to allow adequate ventilation.
To reduce the risk of the fire or electric shock do not expose the console to rain or
moisture or use it in damp or wet condition. Do not place container of liquids on it
this might spill into any opening.
Do not locate the console in a place subject to excessive heat or direct sunlight as this
could be a fire hazard, locate the console away from any equipment which produce
heat such as power supplies, power amplifier and heaters.
Protect from excessive dirt, heat and vibration when operating and storing. Avoid
tobacco ash, drinks slippage and smoke especially that associated with machines,
To prevent damage to the controls and cosmetics avoid placing heavy objects on the
control surface, scratching the surface with sharp objects. Or rough handling and
vibration. Protect the controls from the damage during transit. Use adequate packing
if you need to ship the unit.
Switch off the equipment and unplug the power cord immediately if it is exposed to
moisture, spilled liquid, object fallen into the opening, the power cord or plug become
damaged, during lightening storms, or if smoke odor or noise is noticed.
Install the console in accordance with the instruction printed in the User guide do not
connect the output of power amplifier directly to the console use audio connector and
plug only for their intended purpose.

Gain and Operating Levels

From the User Guide:

SOUND LEVEL SETTING:

Set the VU meter to cue and the select the channel to be set via the CUE SELECT switch. Set the GAIN in such
a way that the level on the VU-meter display about 0dB. Set the tone control as required. If necessary adjust the
GAIN again so that the VU-meter display once again about the 0dB.

MASTER SETTING:

The MASTER control is setting the total output level of both channels and the microphone to the amplifier. If
you want to monitor the output level to the amplifier on LED VU-meter, set the selector switch to MASTER. the
RCA connectors for the connection to the amplifier are located at the rear panel. They are identified as
MASTER. Next to the MASTER output is another stereo RCA connector marked REC for connection of the
output signal to a cassette or tape recorder.

HEADPHONE SECTION:

The head phone section is fitted with 6.3 mm stereo jack that is located on top and on front panel of the unit
chooses the socket which is more convenient. ONLY CONNECT ONE HEADPHONE the CUE SELECT
switch allows to choose if you wish to listen to channel 1 or 2 or both via the headphone. The CUE LEVEL
control sets the output level to the headphones. The SPLI/NORM control determines the LEFT/RIGHT split of
the master volume and the CUE volume. EXAMPLE: if the switch is completely set to the left. The master and
the CUE volume are both audible at the same time is set to the right, only the CUE signals is audible.

A final note .. The human ear is a remarkable organ with the ability to compress or shut down when
sound levels become too high. Do not interpret this natural response as a reason to turn the system volume up
further! As the session wears on ear fatigue may set in, and the speaker cones may become
Hot so reducing the effectiveness of the system and listeners to gain nay benefit from increased volume.

SERVICE TOOLS
The tools required to service the DJX series DJ mixer are standard to an electronic service workshop and are
easily obtainable. The following items are necessary for disassembly and service access:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.

Philips #1 and #2 screwdrivers and good quality hand tools

A set of short medium bristled artist or horse hair brushes.
Methanol alcohol or non corrosive, non lubricant solvent.
Digital multimeter with 20 KHz Band width.
Power supply with 200 watts series lamp on socket, along with a shorting switch for the lamp.
60/40 solder wire.
Desoldering wick for removal of solder from PCB (Clean PCB).
25/35 watt solderon soldering iron.

REPLACEMNET OF CROSSFADER

Due to the intensive use of this control. the crossover fader needs replacement after some time. This is very easy
and requires no soldering to remove the two screw on the cross fader via a crosshead screwdriver. Lift off the
control from the mixer and disconnect it. Push the connector on the new cross fader (This can only be done one
way). Insert the cross fader panel back into the mixer and fasten the two screws.

INSTALLATION
EARTHING

The connection to earth (Ground) in an audio system is important for two reasons:
1. SAFETY To protect the operator form high voltage electric shock.
2. AUDIO PERFORMANCE To minimize the effect of earth (Ground) loops which result in audible
hum and buzz, and to shield the audio signals from interference.
For safety it is important that all equipment earths are connected to mains earth so that exposed metal parts are
prevented from carrying high voltage which can injure or even kill the operator, It is recommended that the
system engineer check the continuity of the safety earth from all points in the system including microphone
bodies, turntable chassis, equipment cases and so.
The same earth is also used to shield audio cables from external interference such as the hum field associated
with power transformers, lighting dimmer buzz and computer radiation. Problems arise when the signal sees
more than one path to mains earth. An earth loop (Ground Loop) results causing current to flow between the
different earth paths. This condition is usually detected as a mains frequency audible hum or buzz.
To ensure see and trouble-free operation we recommend the following:

Have your mains system checked by a qualified electrician- if the supply earthing is solid to start

with you are less likely to experience problem.

DO not remove the earth connection form the console mains plug- the console is connected to
mains earth through the power cable to ensure your safety. Audio 0v is connected to the console
chassis internally. If problems are encountered with earth loops operate the audio Ground Lift
switches on connected equipment accordingly, or disconnect the cable screens at one end, usually at the
destination.
Make sure that turntables are correctly earthed: A chassis earth terminal is provided on the console
rear panel to connect to turntable earth straps.
Deal with ground loops: Should you experience hum or buzz caused by ground loops. Check first
each piece of equipment has its own separate path to ground. if so, operate ground lift switches on
connected equipment in accordance with the instruction manuals. Alternatively disconnect the cable
screen at the destination end only. This breaks the offending loop while still maintaining the signal
shielding down the length of the cable.
Use low impedance source: As such as microphone and live level equipment rated 200 ohms or less to
reduce susceptibility to interference. The console outputs are designed to operate at very low
impedance to minimize interference problem.
Route cables to avoid interference: To avoid interference pickup keep audio cables away from mains
power units and cables, thyristor dimmer units or computer equipment. Where this cannot be avoided,
cross the cables at right minimize interference.
Use good quality cable and connector and check for correct wiring and reliable solder joints. Allows
sufficient cable loop to prevent damage through stretching.
