(WALK-IN-INTERVIEW for Admission to Ph.D. Programme -2010)

Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), Jammu invites applications for walk-in interview on 10th
& 11th May 2010 from motivated candidates, who have passed M.Sc. and cleared CSIR/UGC NET, DBT
JRF examination or ICMR JRF examination for Ph.D. Programme of the institute. IIIM is a constituent
laboratory of CSIR and a multi-disciplinary institute with modern state of the art research facilities,
experienced faculty with particular interests in the new drug discovery from the natural products,
pharmacology, biology & biotechnology. The applicants may be placed in any of the specialized areas
mentioned below.

ORGANIC CHEMISTRY : Isolation, structure and synthesis of organic natural products from plants
and microbial species. Medicinal Chemistry of drug-like scattolds, hit-to-lead optimization and drug-
candidate selection. Biotransformation using enzymes from extremophiles and chemical ecology.

PHARMACOLOGY : General Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics, drug-metabolism and toxicology with

focus on the disease areas of cancer, inflammation, diabetes and drug-resistant infections.

BIOTECHNOLOGY : Microbial and Plant Biotechnology, Biosynthesis and metabolic engineering of

secondary metabolite pathways of medicinal plants, bacteria and fungi.

BIO-INFORMATICS : Computer aided 3D structure elucidation, QSAR modeling and in-silico drug
design.

MEDICINAL AND AROMATIC PLANTS : Agro-technology, Bio-prospecting cultivation of

endangered and commercial plant species.

Eligibility and Selection: Candidates with masters or equivalent degree in any of the branches of science
(Chemistry, Life Sciences, Botany, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Pharmacy,
Physiology or in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering), who are qualified to receive Junior Research
Fellowship after passing CSIR/UGC NET, DBT JRF Examination (A category) are eligible to be
interviewed. No TA/DA or any other expenses shall be paid for appearing in the interview.

Age limit: 28 years (The age limit is 28 years which is relaxed upto 5 years in case of SC/ST, Women,
Physically Handicapped and OBC candidates).

Accommodation: Successful candidates will be provided hostel accommodation in the campus during
their Ph. D. tenure if available.
