PwC SAP Services - EAM

Business challenges

Value proposition

For asset-intensive organizations, improvement of asset performance

and management of risk and reduction in asset-related costs are critical
challenges. Too often EAM processes are managed independently with
asset and work management, planning, execution and measurement
disconnected from enterprise goals.

PwC works with clients to understand where opportunities for

improvement exist and then build a roadmap of required tasks and
tactics to match asset management to enterprise goals.

Solutions

EAM overview: Managing physical assets through full asset life-cycle

and across enterprise/business partner landscape

Our EAM capabilities include:

Asset Management Assessments/Diagnostics, Strategies and Roadmaps
Asset Management-driven Transformation for asset-intensive enterprises
Technology Selection and Implementation (ERP and EAM)
PMO assistance and project health assessment (design and quality reviews;
progress/gate checks)
EAM Business Intelligence (BI) and Enterprise Performance Management (EPM)
Asset Reliability Services for Existing Plant
New Build Services (asset data, early adoption of EAM/ERP systems, RAM
optimization, engineering system and reliability repository integration, handover
Asset Financial Management (investment planning, budgeting, asset accounting)

Linear Assets
This new business function enables you to describe, display, and
manage linear assets. Linear assets are technical systems with a linear
infrastructure whose condition and properties can vary from section to
section (dynamic segmentation).
Examples of linear assets include:
Pipelines w/ welds
Cables in trays
Roads and railway tracks
Power transmission lines / cables

Linear Assets Piping System

Problem Statement:

Model pipe spools with associated welds

Pipe will be a Linear Functional Location
Welds will be Linear Equipment masters

Linear Assets SAP View

Step 1 - Activate SAP Business Function

a) Install SAP Enhancement Pack 5 in and ECC 6.0 instance
b) Activate linear assets business function ( LOG_EAM_LINEAR_1 ) via t-code >>>SFW5

Step 2 - Build Configuration for Technical Objects

Units of Measure:
Check and update number of decimal places for all that will be used in your Liner asset solution:

Step 2 - Build Configuration for Technical Objects (contd)

Functional Locations:
Create a new FLOC Category = L

(Define Category of Functional Location)

Must be selected

Need to add view profile

after its creation

Step 2 - Build Configuration for Technical Objects (contd)

Functional Locations (contd):
Create a new view profile: (Set View Profiles for Technical Objects)

Added 300 and

350

Added new
description for 300

Step 2 - Build Configuration for Technical Objects (contd)

Functional Locations (contd) :
Assign View Profile to the new FLOC Category = L

(Define Category of Functional Location)

View profile added

Step 2 - Build Configuration for Technical Objects (contd)

Equipment Masters :
Create new equipment categories for each type of linear equipt: (Maintain Equipment
Category)

Note: For example, we created one for welds on piping

Will add new view

profile here

Added "check" here

Step 2 - Build Configuration for Technical Objects (contd)

Equipment Masters (contd):
Create a new view profile: (Set View Profiles for Technical Objects)

Added new
description for 300
Added 300 and
350

Step 2 - Build Configuration for Technical Objects (contd)

Equipment Masters (contd) :
Assign View Profile to the new Equipment Cat. = W (Maintain Equipment Category)

View profile added

Step 2 - Build Configuration for Technical Objects (contd)

Equipment Master (contd) :
Created a new status profile for Equipment category for welds:

(Define User Status)

Note: Will use same status profile for Linear FLOC's as regular FLOC's.

Status unique to
welds

Linked Status
profile to category

Step 2 - Build Configuration for Technical Objects (contd)

Equipment Master (contd) :
Added Usage History for the new W linear equipment category: (Usage History Update)
Note: Will automatically make a new entry in the usage list when equipment of this type is
installed/dismantled.

Check added here

Step 2 - Build Configuration for Technical Objects (contd)

Equipment Master (contd) :
Need to set to allow this Equip. category to be installed in a FLOC: (Define Installation at FLOC)

Check added here

Step 2 - Build Configuration for Technical Objects (contd)

Equipment Master (contd) :
Need to assign partners to this Equip. category: (Assign Partner Determination Procedure)
Note: This would be the responsible Engineer(s)

Partner Determination
Proc. added

Step 2 - Build Configuration for Technical Objects (contd)

Equipment Master (contd) :
Need to create a new number range for this Equip. category: (Define Number Ranges)
Note: External numbers use to allow for using real weld designators

Set to allow for External

numbering

Step 2 - Build Configuration for Technical Objects (contd)

Class / Classifications:
Define organizational area for Classifications: (Maintain Object Types and Class Types)

Note: Needs to define a new Org. Area L so Classes can be assigned along the length of a
Technical Object

Equipment Master

Functional Location

Step 2 - Build Configuration for Technical Objects (contd)

Class / Classifications (contd):
Need to link the new L Org area to the Functional Locations and Equipment: (Define
Organizational Area for Characteristics with Linear Data)

Needs to be an L
Org. area

Step 2 - Build Configuration for Technical Objects (contd)

Class / Classifications (contd):
Need to Create new Groups for Linear Classes and Characteristics: (Define Class Groups &
Define Characteristics Groups)

Note: This is needed to easily report on the new Linear Classes and Characteristics

Step 2 - Build Configuration for Technical Objects (contd)

Measurement Points:
Define Linear Measurement Points: (Define Measurement Point Categories)

Note: Need to have the Linear setting active for the associated measurement points to have
linear attributes

New Linear
Category

Linear setting

Step 3 - Build Configuration for Orders

Orders:
Set the Linear Data - Order Operation Default Rule: (Define Change Docs, Collective Purc.
Req. Indicator, Operation No. Interval)
Note: This setting specifies the source of default values for linear data displayed in the linear
fields of the order operation. Recommend option 4.

Configured option "4".

Step 4 - Build Configuration for Notifications

Notifications:
Set Notification Item Default: (Define Default Rules for Linear Data in Notification Items)

Note: This setting will specify the source of default values for linear data displayed in the linear
fields of the notification item. Recommend option 1.

Configured option 1".

Step 5 Master Data

Linear Class:
Create with new linear classes. (Use transaction CL01)
Example: Class for Pipe Material

Nuclear "Linear" group

specified
"L" Organizational area
needs to be specified

Step 5 Master Data

Linear Characteristics:
Create with new linear characteristics with characteristic values. (Use transaction CL02)
Example: Characteristics for Pipe Material

"Linear" Org. Area

must be specified

Step 5 Master Data

Linear Class:
Link class to characteristics. (Use transaction CT04)
Example: Characteristics for Pipe Material

Nuclear "Linear"
group specified
You must select
multiple values

Step 5 Master Data

Functional Locations:
Create with new linear category

Use new Linear category

Step 5 Master Data

Functional Locations (contd) :
Create with new linear category

Linked the pipe spool

welds here

Step 5 Master Data

Functional Locations (contd) :
Create with new linear category

Added Linear Classes /

characteristics

Must be setup to accept

multiple values

Step 5 Master Data

Functional Locations (contd) :
Set linear characteristics on the new Linear Data Tab

New Tab

Linear data

Linear
characteristics

Step 5 Master Data

Functional Locations (contd) :
Build new Linear Reference Patterns ( LRPs)
Note: New t-codes created>>> IK81, 82, 83. Need to add roles and authorizations to master data owners
